Hi I have a passenger window that falls at an angle when going down I am about to have a go at sorting it if anyone has come across this fault what bits am I likely to require and any suggestions as to where I might source them I have the orange clips for the door card removal. thanks for any help in anticipation.

Orange clips are readily available from Vauxhall dealership. Only about £2 each. Think the dealership will only supply in batches of 5, so I spent a tenner and keep the spares for future use.

Alternatively I am sure SJ Sports or Paul Matty will have them. See also WikiLEC under "Orange Clip"

The sliders A100B6210S (RH) and A100B6211S (LH) are still available from Lotus Dealers as wel as SJS and Mattey. 1.45 and 1.40 each respectively. The guide rail slides A100B1097F are available same way for 7.55 each. The Butterfly is A100B6271S is also available for 4.37.

The spacer tube A100B1089K is obsolete but the quantity was reduced or eliminated if I am remembering correctly. Others have used generic thickwall nylon tubing / sleeving of the same diameter to substitute

Further help: on thread quoted above by Epipete two of the pics are links to short videos on removal/replacement of complete winding mechanism. Its the two were the untrimmed door is leaning against a wall preceded by the advice large and red CLICK THE PHOTOGRAPH.

Had to do mine recently as the slider was worn and refused to hold the cable. So can also confirm sliders are still available! Pain of a job but well within the average DIYer. Difficult bit is getting the cable back on, but it is not impossible. Managed on my own, but a second pair of hands would make it a lot easier.

Can anybody remember the diameter of the spacer tube? I'd be happy to make a batch from a Nylon or PEEK tube/bar.

I can't remember the size of the tube but it will more than likely be in place. I have used hard windscreen washer tube in the past - It goes hard if you use it for brake bleeding. It needs to be slightly flexible as it is taking the slack out of the guide that's why it ends up oval.

Having done this recently
- Rather than completely removing the metal strip, remove a couple of rivets and carefully bend the end out of the way
- often it is the rubber washers that have perished and the spigot becomes loose
- you will more than likely break the retaining clip on the butterfly
- don't forget to put vaseline on the sliders
- Now is your opportunity to make sure that the window runs freely and fits correctly - see manual for adjustment.

I can't remember ever knowing the diameter, but about 6 years ago I made some new rollers up out of PTFE rod to the same diameter of the originals.....

.... it didn't work well at all

I think it needs some pliability of the material (hence the hollow rollers) to allow both support and to go through the uneven curvature of the rails.

Now, I'm no engineer, and my 'lathe' was a cordless drill holding the rod whilst I turned it down with a wood chisel (but it worked!) .....

.... maybe if they were a tad slimmer, or a different material it would have been better, so with your engineering background, I'll defer to your ability, and I'll order a set

When I put my windows back in, I used 9/32 PTFE rods I got off eBay. It was a good fit and the windows don't rattle and don't drag.

nah ninethirtytooths is aboot 7.2 mm to a smithy, and 9/32" is 7.14375 mm ....not allowing for the curvature of the earth.
