The good news is that (as of this morning) I can drive again (and before Smiffy says anything sarcastic, I COULD drive before my misshap)....

... so I'll be there, but not in the elan.

What times are people thinking of arriving?

Will aim for 10am arrival, but it's approx. 2hrs from Midlands and Fosse Way can be slow at times.

Presently in Swindon at my mates place but after spending all day in the pi55ing rain on track there yesterday, I'm not keen to do it all over again. I spent most of the time in the cafe. The most interesting part of the day was a near punch up in the paddock which was rather amusing.

Well, having got bored with watching the rain through the windows at home, I've decided to watch it through the windscreen instead!

I'm just about to leave, and will see anyone else daft enough to venture out in the rain at Castle Combe (probably in the cafe!)

It is a good cafe though! Particularly their fry ups and curries (but not together)

Just wish it had been drier so the lead car would hit more than 60mph.

I thought I'd posted here earlier (when i got home) but obviously i pressed the wrong button ...

...anyway, apart from the weather, it wasn't a bad day out (oh, and there not being many people there, or cars....)...

...good to catch up with Pete, John and Spud (and Bev)....

...and to see Daves' new yellow Toyot (the 'A' is missing on the rear badge).

Cross-country detour to get home as the M4 and M5 both had big queues - luckily I became aware before hitting the motorway.

Hoping for a better turn out next year (and better weather) - it'd be good to have this day as well supported as it was up until 3 years ago (especially from un-named local folk from Tytherington). - that said, Geoff, hope you're feeling a bit better - not worth the trip if you're not feeling up to it.

Sorry I missed you Dave...I wanted to hear the stories of your first year's days of leisure, adventure and mishaps. Maybe next time! Very few of the regular crew in attendance. Met a nice chap from Herefordshire with a good looking yellow S2. And of course was excited to see "the yellow one" with Dave and Bev.

The track sessions were weird. I had absolutely zero grip in the morning for both sessions and struggled to potter around at sub parade pace - a point proven when following Spud on the actual parade laps where I was still spinning out the back on just about any input I made with steering, throttle, or brake. I blamed the 14 year old tyres (obviously not any lack of talent!) and was on the point of not bothering when the rain stopped. Next session the first lap was difficult, but as soon as the tyres warmed up it was brill. Had a passenger session at 10/10ths in DMs Baby Elan S2 after that and only just got back into the Esprit in time for the final session. I don't think I've ever been quicker than I managed that session....and on those same old tyres! Amazing how a couple of sessions like that can lift the spirits! Fantastic day after all!
