The whole assembly will interchange, but the speedo/odometer won't be accurate for an elan (and the speedo only goes up to 140mph!).....
..... but the housing will be identical, and you will then have spare bulbs for the instrument panel, and (worth having), a Speed sensor.
You may be able to source one locally, or wait until a 'cheap' one comes up if you can put up with the defect for now....

I bought an Astra instrument panel a few years ago as I needed some bits for the elan - and then I just assumed that the whole thing was the same, not just the internals I wanted, and didn't bother to look further before making my above post (which I've now edited).
It appears that i must admit to making a mistake (but don't tell my wife, she'll want to throw a party for such a monumentous admission!!!)
