Changes to a NMY

Postby Rob P » Thu 12.06.2014, 22:02

Well after a year of Elan M100 ownership I thought a few changes were in order to stamp my own likes on the car, this is very much a work in progress and further changes planned but thought I would share just for the fun of it, Just a couple of before and after shots and yes it won't be to everyone's taste but that's the whole point of us all being different isn't it :D
Seats are Porsche 911 and are motorised but need to connect these up yet but will be done in the future. Dash is temporarily coloured black but will hopefully be covered in the winter, just working on what material it will be

Turbo shield added which wasn't just a case of adding in the usual spot as the turbo is none standard on this car so took a bit of fettling. next job is to lose the yellow on the Cam Cover but that can wait until the winter as I wantto get out and enjoy the warm weather before it disappears

I have also taken the front bumper off and replace the chicken mesh with diamond shaped mesh which looks a lot better but haven't any photo's of that yet, also reversed he front lamp units whilst I had the bumper off so the side lights are outermost.
Refitting the bumper has made it a little more like it fits properly but still can't get it to close the gaps all round despite much fiddling :(
Also removed the Rear speaker pods from behind the seats and fashioned a new board and covered it ith Carpet to hide some of the roll bar and speakers now mounted higher up. it also does away with the small pocket above the centre arm rest but does create some pockets behind the seats for map books etc.

Hi Tony,

Gap between the runners on the Porsche seats is wider than the Lotus mounting holes but this was overcome by using Aluminium plates which are both bolted to the seat runners and have holes aligned to the original holes for the Lotus Seats.
The overall Seat width is pretty much the same so it's just a case of ensuring the positioning is correct and making the plates accordingly, very easy to do and the throw of the seat back and forth is pretty much the same as the Lotus Seat.

Certainly a more comfortable seat IMO, :)
