Window drops at rear when coming up

Postby Patton » Sat 21.06.2014, 11:30

Hi all , the drivers window goes down ok but when coming up the rear of the windows drops slightly and the motor struggles to push it up , when the front up stop hits its limit then it lifts the rear of window level . I am worried leaving it like this as the motor will give out with the extra work.
Any ideas for a fix please

Well it could be a number of things from the simple to the complex bit first base is to remove the door trim and apply some grease to the slider at the rear to see if this resolved matters, should set aside an hour for this.

Specky wrote a wonderful treatise on the magic that is Elan Windows check the Wiki and if not search his posts!

I had stripped the door down already as had just fitted new outer window seal , before fitting the glass I noticed the rear bracket the holds the two slider bobbins had been glued to the glass and one of the bobbins was loose . So I removed the glue and refitted the bracket so it can pivot and put some thread lock on the bobbin to stop it coming loose .
I am right that the rear bracket should be able to pivot on its mounting bolt the gage door glass?

Solving a similar problem on my drivers door involved changes to the front of the window and not the rear - the glass guides on the front needed adjustment - and that solved the rear window problem. The whole window mechanism seems to be very sensitive to have the appropriate adjustment all around - pay attention to the slide glass rail guides as well
