Once again im going to miss this event due to things cropping up at the last minuite :evil:

Nice trip out despite the rain at the start of the run out, eventually the sun shone and Matt and I had a great time meeting up with Gareth, Neil and FredJohn, add to that the food at the Waterloo Inn which was superb. Just a few piccy's showing the M100's on parade today

Beat me to it by 2mins Rob. Lovely day out, great 100 mile drive through Peak District. The sight of 3 NMY Elans, (and the noise, sorry sound) in procession, plus Neil's blue one

was quite head turning.

My pics were the same as Rob's, so here is one that isn't, and just to prove we were at the Waterloo:

Oh and not forgetting Kim who navigated all 4 of us all the way round perfectly! Thanks Kim :clap:

Of course how could I forget to mention the navigation through the wonderful Peak District, Many thanks to Kim for keeping us on the right track, I'm sure If me and Matt had been leading it would have turned into a 150 miles trip for sure :lol:

Oh dear - first to sign up, and last to post my reflections on the day! :oops:

Ben and I had a great time. He's definitely getting the right sort of education early on, and I've no doubt he'll be a speed freak to make daddy proud in years to come!
The start of the day was dubious weatherwise, but we were tentatively able to remove the lid at the first checkpoint and only suffered a few spots of rain after. It progressively got nicer as the day went on, and by the time we stopped at The Waterloo it was very pleasant. Really nice food with excellent company all round. If you know what it's like to have children then unfortunately it's very difficult to fully concentrate on the conversation because of the constant distractions, but I think I was able to contribute.

The drive was fantastic. Being as I had Ben, John was on his own, Rob and Matt thought they might end up in a domestic (!!!) and Gareth and Kim had local knowledge, Gareth got the job of leading and Kim was tasked with navigating. Both performed excellently in their nominated roles. The pace was spot on - really entertaining, and I can only think of one tiny scenic diversion which really was no issue at all.

I was a bit dubious about being at the back of the group when everyone else had upgraded brakes (mine just has EBC discs & pads), but it was fine.

Ben had gone to sleep so late the night before, got up so early and been so crammed full of the massive Sunday roast at The Waterloo that he fell asleep for the last 30 miles - so there were lots of "awww - look"s when we arrived at the finish. He loves his new badge.

All in all, a top day. It's great to be back in an Elan again, even if it was the wrong colour on the day! :-D
