Background to the Group Buy.
OK, I got excited and I'd already put an order in this morning.
The rings are €2,86 each but the postage is €16.50 - so if we can Group Buy that will certainly be better for everyone.
With this in mind, I've spoken to the company and asked them to hold sending the order with the view of adding some additional pieces and I'll try to arrange the Group Buy - I'm just waiting for confirmation from them as to how many they actually have.
I'm assuming that everyone who has put their hands up are looking for a set of rings (i.e. 3 - one per door and the boot) - are you able to confirm?

4) GeoffSmith x 3
Thanks

Jolly good - 3 made sense to me.
So by my calculations, as it stands, at the moment with 4 of us it works out to £11-£12 for a set of 3 (give or take some exchange rate and UK postage and packaging) - if we can get anyone else interested it should go down.
GeoffSmith - are you able to move this to the Group Buy section?

If you can see this, the answer is yes.
If you can't see this, the answer is no.

Guys, just wanted to update you on this. I'd intended to get these finalised this week - but I was waiting to hear back from the supplier this week, who if I have understood the German, [I think] is away until Monday. So I'll be back on his case on Monday!!

OK, my German was OK, they chap was off until Monday. They've amended the order and hopefully the bezels should be dispatched shortly. I'll update when they have arrived here to organise distribution.
The list is now closed.

Good news, these arrived from Germany this morning - I've fitted mine and they fit perfectly (part of me was worried I was going to end up with 18 of the wrong ring!!), for the first time in over 15 years my Elan has lovely black bezels.
I'll PM everyone on the list to confirm delivery details.

They are exceptionally simple - they just clip on from the front (about 50% of the base of the bezel has plastic notches around that just clip round the lock).
So all I needed to do was removed the old ones - I was able to do this with my fingernails - but anything fine you can get round the back to push it forward should suffice, obviously being careful of your paint work. One ring was slightly more tricky and I found that turning it slightly as I pulled it away did the trick).
Then I cleaned up 20 years of grime (I wiped it over with a rag) and pushed the new bezels on.
Done!!

Well done Jon - it's something that's annoyed me since getting the car 8 years ago.
What a difference. Rather than risk damage to the paintwork I would recommend removing any stubborn old ones with a screwdriver between it and the lock. It's now all on the
WikiLEC.

Article looks good Geoff!
Not sure if it is worth mentioning but when I spoke to the suppliers in Germany they indicated that their supplies were "limited" (they basically have access to the entire Opal supply network and garage/service system which they can access parts) and they indicated that they thought that getting hold of "around 20 should be possible" but that they would be "unlikely to be able to get hold of 50" (since our Group Buy required just shy of 20 I didn't have to test exactly how many they could get hold of!!).
Also English isn't widely spoken - so if anyone needs to speak to them and doesn't happen to speak German, then ask for Christophe (parts supply isn't his job but he does speak English and is very helpful).

Probably a long shot but does any body know where I could get some bezels, I've exhausted all European and UK sources (web search) with no luck?
Mine are beginning to crack and will fall off in the near future.
Thanks,
Bruce
