So after NR cheating (twice) a mysterious car failure, brake failure and fire for Lewis it looks like Merc are not even trying to hide their bias. I hope Lewis has some good life insurance because I dread to think what Toto and the boys are going to do to him next.

Oh dear, I was going to say what a great post until it managed to drop into the "Mercedes Lewis Conspiracy theory", why would they even contemplate hindering one of their own drivers when all of the cash associated with the sport is for the construtors title and not the Drivers title, surely they would want two cars finishing every race and wrap that up first ?

I agree totally that Lewis does seem to have had more of the bad luck this season but that's all it is, why make more of it than it is.

As for the racing, wow Danny R showed what a great driver he was, OK he was on fresher tyres but made short work of Alonso with a gutsy overtake once he had overtaken Lewis who couldn't seem to make the same move on Alonso. If this is what the F1 racing is like for the rest of the season then I don't care if the cars are quieter, I don't watch it for the noise I watch it for the on track action and recently there has been plenty of it.........shame we now have four weeks to wait for the next instalment

I agree, it was the best Hungary race I have seen. The Hungaroring usually presents a procession without the glitz of Monaco.
I can understand Rosberg's call of not being let through but Hamilton's response was fairly sound. Unless something outrageous happens, Merc will have the constructors' title wrapped up pretty soon anyway so they don't need team orders to gain every possible point.

I like the unreliability aspect too. It is almost back to the Chapman days of "If the car does not fall apart as it crosses the finishing line, then it needs to be lightened or stressed harder".

For certain, all those naysayers who said this would be a boring season have been definitively proven wrong. It's been a blast. I thought the last ten laps especially were nail-biters, watching Rossberg make up 15 seconds in five laps to catch the leaders was fun. And watching both Alonso and Hammy do so well with older tires was a testament to their skill and experience. But in the end the young hot shot found his way to the top and I think he fully deserved it.

BTW the US commentators called out JEV on the safety car violation before the radio call, so I don't think it was whining...

The German people must feel truly ashamed of their legal system.

Does anyone understand why, when everyone is jostling so hard for position and should be in the middle of the best period of weather of the year, they all pack up and go on holiday for 4 weeks?!? :?

Insisting teams close down their operations for these 4 weeks is supposed to reduce team costs. I am sure most simply use the time to develop from a backup location somewhere. Just watch out for the many car developments appear at the next race which they were not supposed to have time to develop & also how much of an advantage Red Bull seemed to gain last year immediately after the time off.

Another good race, another disappointing McLaren result. Quick poll - is it the drivers or the cars? Should they let Button go and start over with new blood next season? I think he's a terrific driver and am curious if it's really just a s**t car this season (and last).

I went to the USGP in Austin - fun to be so close, but a pretty boring race other than Hammy passing Nico. Bummer day for Jenson again.

Geez that track is a dump though. Unless you've shelled out the super big bucks for seats at the main grandstands at start/finish, the entire thing is uneven dirt. The bleachers are all aluminum and feel like they were assembled from some traveling circus from the 60's. Not modern feeling that's for sure. And the bathrooms (again, everywhere but start/finish).. rows and rows of disgusting port-a-potties. And don't get me started on the almost 3 hours it took to get the 10 miles back to my hotel. No I'm not exaggerating. Loved being at the race itself, but not sure I'll be back to Austin for next year's. Maybe if they get the NJ race on the schedule.

I bet you're right. I am pretty annoyed with McLaren for dicking Button around so long he would have no other team to move to either.

Pete,

There is a generic filter on the site (and most phpBB3 forums) to prevent offensive words......

...these can be added to/deleted by people with the correct permission levels - you know, people like Smiffy.....
(who has presumably put it back to how it should be now)....

or you could just type s**t.
