Soon after I got my M100, I was in Bury St Edmunds, leaving a garden centre I think, when this guy comes over and started talking about the Elan, turns out he was on the M100 development team. Runs his own car type business in Bury now.

Does anyone know roughly what time the parade lap takes place?
As I probably won't be able to get there before midday!

I'm not sure when the parade lap is but the black square VIP car pass I was sent indicates entry is between 7:30 and 10:00.
Anyone know if the circuit entry cut off is 10:00?

Adster:

My interpretation of our tickets is:

Circuit entry (I.e. The bit you would have paid for) is anytime today and tomorrow.
Elan M100 VIP parking and parade lap is 0730-1000 on Sunday only, with us being called forward shortly before 1330 for the lap

I got the parade lap timing from the http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk website by clicking through to Brands and then to our event. Looks like an interesting lineup.

If I have understood it correctly, they might not let late arrivals (after 1000) through to the Sunday VIP parking bit presumably because the area will be full of pedestrian traffic and their marshals will be busy on the track. There is a bit of guesswork there on my behalf but that's the reasoning I came up with...

Luckily the weather forecast looks good today so I shall see if I can polish that which can't take a shine and put it back away in the garage ready for a speedy exit at 0800 tomorrow. :)

Hope that helps, hope you can get an earlier start. :)

The last time we had a parade lap at Brands you had to register (so they know who's there) in the morning and show them your driving licence so don't forget it

Thanks Steve, sounds obvious now you mention it but it hadn't crossed my mind...

I will make sure I bring both parts of mine. :)

My green one has only got one part.

Arrived in Dulwich late last night so won't be going over today. See you all tomorrow in the LEC area (on the left just after TLF).

A rather big hand as it turns out as Ian came into the M100 project to get the Elan into production. Fascinating stories and glad we were able to get him and his wife on the parade lap - top marks to Simon who handed over his keys and let Ian drive. Photographs when I get home.

As ever, good to meet the old stalwarts and new faces. Shame about the torrential downpour at the end of the parade lap. The award for the most bizarre mod must go to Doug with his 'fans come on with the brakes' relay mod - group buy anyone?

Brian and I had a great day, thank you to all concerned. For me it was really nice to put some faces to names and my only regret was I didn't get to meet everybody before it was time to leave.

The parade lap was a very enjoyable cruise around Brands and despite the slow speeds, it put in perspective the ups and downs of the circuit and what the drivers see as they come round corners into a dip for example. My first time on a track and I really enjoyed it.

Anyway, the hood up / hood down debate - do we let style come first, or practicality? Click here for the video: http://youtu.be/7EhQBaUD6Io

You decide. ;) :bonk:

I only took a phone to take photos with, but they are currently uploading to DropBox and I will upload them here later.

Oh go on then - here's a little panoramic shot I took of the queue leading in to the track entrance, where were held until our allotted time.

I have never seen so many of the same model lined up before either.

Good to see you all today. Met a few new owners and looked at a couple of siezed wastegates. Parade lap was a laugh even if it was slow and very wet. Henry's tried to hold his coat over our heads head with little effect. I blame Novacane ;-) for checking the weather and putting his hood up. Will add some pictures later. Would add a video but Henry spent most of the time saying it was slow and pointing at the dash rather than out of the window

Here are the photos I took today - I spent more time gassing than photographing, but I hope I captured some useful shots. Normally I might weed them to get rid of the duffers, but these are the raw output from my mediocre phone camera. Hopefully some of you got better ones?

Anyway... http://www.abs-zero.com/lotus/brands_14/default.htm

The thumbnails are clickable and you'll then get the full file (no resizing). Feel free to use these as you wish. :)

Thanks for being so kind - that's a terrific effort to get them out on track and especially driving, thank you!
