Ian great pictures and good to meet you plus geoff for his electrical diagnosis etc , thanks for the help with my intercooler pipe this morning , full turbo all the way home in convoy with an elise and an esprit lots of heads turning !! got pretty sunburned considering the rain though ! a thoroughly enjoyable day!!

Great to meet you too Doug - I'm sure you'll have that car sorted pretty quickly - there's very little to do to reinstate that wiring, possibly doing it in a field wasn't going to be practical though. Glad to be able to help.

As for my drive home, it was short and uneventful, which I guess was a good thing, a quick single junction blat at 70 down the M25 and I doubt anyone gave us a second glance. Quite a novelty for me to go to Brands and for any club event to be on my doorstep like it was today - almost missed the drive home and really must do a convoy sometime. There was word of a fish and chip run to the coast, which would be really pleasant in good weather. Did something similar with MBclub about 10 years ago, which turned a few heads.

So we got a bit wet, I felt more sorry for the drivers of the two races that later got cancelled because of a crash,
they gave up their whole weekend for a race that didn't happen

The show at Whitstable was also affected by the rain but there were a lot of cars there.
Unfortunately the flypast by the Lancasters was cancelled too.

Good to see you all today. Met a few new owners and looked at a couple of siezed wastegates. Parade lap was a laugh even if it was slow and very wet. Henry's tried to hold his coat over our heads head with little effect. I blame Novacane for checking the weather and putting his hood up. Will add some pictures later. Would add a video but Henry spent most of the time saying it was slow and pointing at the dash rather than out of the window

I'm pretty sure it wasn't me that made it rain. It did make me laugh though, told you it would rain

It was a great day though and it was a pleasure to meet even more LECers

Unfortunately the flypast by the Lancasters was cancelled too.

Luckily for us some days they've been stationed at Southend so we've been getting the odd fly past, wouldn't it be great to get the one at Kirkby to fly as well.

Stef, I can't remember your exact words when we were putting the hood up. But we gave you a toot as we passed the impromptu "First place to stop and put the hood-up car park" - Those pictures don't do justice to just how hard it was raining!

Was another fantastic weekend at the Lotus Festival. Missed the SELOC Director's BBQ, but looked like a really good evening and a great way to meet and mix with new people.

As usual, enjoyed walking round the track and watching the racing. Highlights for me were (1) the Lotus Sunbeam Rally Laps - missed it last year, got there early this year. Rode with Cathy Sewart and it was definitely worth the year's wait! Thoroughly recommend it to anyone who's not done it before. £10 was a bargain (and the money went to charity)

The second highlight was meeting Ian Doble and his wife, hearing about interia switches, white emulsion painted roofs, and headlights made from wood! Was so good to see Ian's joy seeing the Elans together and well done to Simon for handing his keys over!

Was a shame we had the torrential downpour on the parade lap (especially as the weather was gorgeous for the rest of the day), but was a pleasure driving Ian's wife around and hearing more stories of their "after Lotus" days.

Was great to see many new people, some excellent condition S2's (18k miles!!!!), watching people help each other out (thanks to lansledj I know what the wastegate wiggle is all about!). And thanks for the 13mm socket spanner to sort my windscreen wiper after the umbrella got stuck in it!

Was great hearing people saying they'd had a great time. Several people I spoke to said it was a shame that it was probably the last event for them for this year year. We must really meet up more!

Had a great roof down drive back to Norwich in the sunshine. A fantastic end to another great Lotus Festival.
