John's post above say '9th Oct'! You may wish to twist his arm too maybe delay a week.

Thoughts lads? :gathering:

I'm going to be elanless from 6th October (for as long as the paint takes) - Don't worry, It's NOT joining the SORN club, and will be used once I get it back

Think I might have a prior engagement on the 16th - just trying to check.....

Will update you all when I know more.

I would say carry on with the 16th as a plan and I will be there if I can.

I do indeed have a prior engagement, as I suspected.

Therefore, I shall probably be late(ish) and also in the daily; given the weather forecast, that will probably be a blessing :)

No problem Dave: we'll just nick the switches etc from it for those "just in case" moments!!!

For the past 4 years I've been hoping it'll fail the MOT so I can canibalise it for parts (front callipers, some switchgear and the cruise control all spring to mind - along with the heated seats, instruments etc etc).....

....but the bloody thing just keeps on going!

(actually, it was extremely useful this morning - i got both elan bumpers, doors, bonnet, bootlid, spoiler, hood cover, light pods, mirrors, A panels, rear lamp panel all in the back!) - couldn't have done that with Angies' Corsa!!!!

I think when I collect the parts it'll take a couple of trips, though - not risking the paint by just piling them in

Im afraid i wont be able to make it guys.

I had an issue when fixing the exaust that may be a show-stopper. (posted topic asking for help here) turning up will probably depend a lot on having the car, well... i can drive my other car anyway but it kind of ruins the point of an elan meetup :(

i think im going to be there thursday,

the car may not be 100% but if it survived the trip from coventry to stafford im probably safe to meet you guys as long as i dont find miself in a place where the car is not moving.

can one of you guys PM me your mobile number so i can contact the group in the even of getting lost ?

and btw dont expect a shinny car, neither a good paintwork. and im going to be very anoying asking questions as a new owner worried about the collant system. :P

and least but not last. does this pub do mixed grills ? :-D

Pete
You are forgiven!
Myself Martin and Tuga2112 (Joe) made it. As it was dark, we stayed indoors instead and ate and chatted. We did venture out to look at Joe's car. Now in NMY, but still a bit more spraying and finishing to do.
Martin managed to establish the fans on Joe's car were not working: fuses were OK and relay was clicking, but no fans. Water leak seemed minimal, and probably only happens under pressure. But Joe went away back to Stafford with a big bottle of water in the boot and a big prayer: hope you made it. He'll be investigating the fans and will no doubt will report on here in due course.

Nov date still to be established, but probably 13th or 20th: Watch this space.

Martin: thanks for demo of car audio: affirmation of my decision to buy the Xtron from fleabay. Will post some pics once installed.

I did get back to stafford without issues (apart from the lucky escape from the M6 just before a massive queue started)
I shall be there next month assuming im not the middle of the road trip to Portugal when the meeting happens.

refering the fans issue, collant etc i will keep that for the post relevant just to make sure no moderators get upset :)

the only downside of the meetup is fact the pub doesnt make mixed grills! i think we need to file a complaint :chair:

Well last month I had an excellent Burger, coupled with a great beer served by a stunning babe! I can live without the mixed grill!

I agree with the burger and the stunning babe, still i am sure if they made mixed grills. those would have been really amazing.

in the middle of the worry of driving the car back in the condition it was I forgot to thank fredjohn and martin for the help diagnosing the issue with the fans. so thank you guys :)

Fredjohn let us know how does the instalation of the new stereo work. im very likely to get something similar (if not the same) for next year
