I have just sent a message to sykeside to see if they will even consider having us! (Their T&Cs say no 'large groups' - which they dictate as being more than 6 people)...

....personally, I'd prefer May bank holiday, but waiting to see how that fits in with Nick & Kims exams!

PS Never thought I'd hear the day when an LEC date was sorted around kids Happy to go with the flow though whatever the weather, schools, peoples hairdressing appointments, sheep shearing, ploughing events etc......best to just name a weekend Dave and see who turns up. There will always be the usual hard cor I suspect and maybe even Stef will make it in "the bubble"

....anyway, back to the topic.

I now propose that we look at the Weekend Friday 29th May to Sunday 31st May.

This is the end of the half term holiday, so should be good for those with kids (also shouldn't affect 'Mature Student' exams!).

We traditionally have better weather at that end of the Summer than later on (August time).

It won't clash with either Silverstone or Carfest..(or Nicks birthday!)

So, I'm now waiting on the site to confirm (or otherwise) that they'll host us (I've told them it will be for about 10 units (20 people) but that isn't a limit, just as an 'expression of interest').
Assuming that they will have us, I'll try and get some acknowledgement that we'll all be together, and see if they have a separate field where we can (mis)behave without disturbing any twitchers/hikers/school groups.

The reverse is true in the Midlands & East. We sometimes have one random warm week in May then a few cool weeks before it warms up again in August.
If the West country is different to that then the Lakes is likely to be different again.

Late May is likely to be camp-friendly weather though.

I'd love to come, the end is in sight on the first Elan, but can't really promise anything. Just to say there is interest from me. My wee boy will be old enough to camp and I know he'd love a big boy's day-away.

Dave - last time at Sykeside we all camped together a bit further away from the other riff raff on the campsite. Considering the amount of alcohol consumed due to the very poor weather I would say we were extremely well behaved. Except for Stef and Stiffo. But what's new ??

Sykeside made plenty of money out of us last time due to the poor weather. Spent our time inside buying bar meals and vast quantities of ale. So they should welcome us back.
