Sorry for the stony silence - Caryn's buying a house and last week:
After paying for the survey, the mortgage company refused to offer a mortgage as they "don't lend on coach houses".
Mortgage advisor advises to look for another house or apply to a different mortgage company.
After much researching, the Council of Mortgage Lenders handbook says they do lend on coach houses.
Mortgage advisor says "that's interesting, I'll ask them"
Mortgage company say that "do lend on coach houses" and they will make an offer provided the solicitor can confirm the deeds relating to the two other garages are in order.
Solicitor advises that there is a problem with the deeds relating to the two other garages.
Confirm builder is still in business and is leasing out the garages which should make things easier.
Solicitor does some more digging and advises that there is no freehold title for the two garage.
Ask solicitor what has gone wrong given the development is less than 10 years old and the Land Registry was instigated to avoid such problems.
Solicitor advises that the Land Registry have a large pot of money to compensate for their many cock-ups.

Just so you're clear, one set does all four headlamps so unless you've got two cars, one set is sufficient. Drop me an e-mail.

Having lost my pc, I replaced the HDD with an SSD and XP with W7. When I finally got all my programs reinstalled, the SSD died and I've just about finished going through the process again.
