The seal at the end has a thin metal insert and this can be bent to the shape required for the Elan, but it also needs cut and some bits of rubber from the underside thinned down, however if you can make this part then the job is done because the rest of it is simple, once the modded part is fitted it is just a matter of pinning the rest of the seal to the door, some holes will need drilled in the seal for the plastic studs as some will be out of alignment with the holes on your door but that's easy enough, then when you reach the end at the mirror its just a matter of cutting a small section from the underside of the seal in order to make a flat part. At this bit on the original seal it has a thick part that fills the gap where you get access to one of the mirror screws, all that is required there is fill the gap with some Black-tac and mold it to shape, this will prevent any water from entering round the edge of the seal. And basically that's the job done.
This picture shows how I have shaped it to fit the setup on mine which is not OEM, but the next picture down shows one that I have replicated the original seal which overhangs the weatherstrip.

Notice I have made a channel so that water coming down onto the seal sends it down the edge and not into the gap where the glass sits, there is also a thin bit of rubber which touches the very edge of the window.

On this one if it was an OEM weather strip you would make it cover it down to the paintwork almost, these are Honda weatherstrips which are a bit more heavy duty.

Here you can see the side of the seal near the top looks quite thick, but this is a hollow seal and it squashes down fairly easily but this actually takes up a space that the original seal didn't fill very well just in line with the top screw in the triangle of three. Bear in mind this one will look better fitting on the original weatherstrip as its replicating the original seal but sitting on a larger weatherstrip.

This picture shows the thickness of the part above the latch, this bit require you to cut some small squares of rubber and bond them together until it the thickness you need, you will drill a hole through this for the retaining screw. Also notice the difference in shape between this seal and the one above, this is because one is replicating the original and the other to fit my setup.

This is how the other end is finished, the original is thin at this point and this easily has enough "squash" in order to be watertight, in conjuction with the rubber A post seals this makes for formidable watertightness, but I tested it with my old originals as well and there is still plenty of pressure to seal it well. Notice the little recess below which is filled with black-tac, hardly even visible, and easy access to the screw if its needed without having to remove the seal!.

The main body of the seal sits great against the door and doorcard, combine this with the fact it is bonded on as well as the studs it will be stupendously more waterproof than the original, better looking than the original, and a lot more durable than the original.

So there you go, I hope a few folk are going to try this on their own car after me going to all this effort!.
