You must be desperate asking for my aesthetic opinion! I too would choose another air duct, wheter a NACA http://www.stockcarproducts.com/naca.htm or something else. I would stick with just 1 duct as that says "I could be real", but 2 obvious add-ons just smack of show.

Also I must praise your MBC. I has me thinking that we could use the little Lotus logo on tire valve caps to make our MBCs look like factory-issue instead of boy-racer.

I may be missing the point here due to my poor english

By venting I mean INTAKE of air to the Cold Air Intake so as to suck cooler fresh air as possible. There is allready a stock intake of air from the bottom of the filterbox, and by adding the scoop above we wanted to increase the cool air that the CAI sucks in. Was I clear or am I messing things up for you? I am not always sure if i did put in the corect english words and grammar my thoughts and ideas, its been a long time since I lived in Great Britain.....

You've got a purge valve and are installing a wet system. So far so good.

Down in JAX the roads were so open I would make 3 WOT runs and clear the nitrous lines that way. Here in Atlanta with the congested traffic there is no room for WOT runs! Hence my recent purchase of a purge kit. I'm still conflicted on where to route the nitrous "exhaust" though and waiting on my forced-air propane heater to arrive. Can't do any work when your fingers are numb! Last night when I went to bed the temperature difference from my old ZIP to my new one was 43-degrees fairenheit. Sad thing is, except for obvious signs like bottled water in your car freezing and your fingers getting too numb to hold things, I no longer really notice it.

Everyone be sure to watch the Super Bowl & see where I lived (legally, I still live there... just renting out my old house) my whole life. I'll be there for a 3-day weekend 6 days from now to see my progeny & do all the fun things the NFL has set up to entertain the crowds, which all open next Saturday.

Upon further reflection I am concerned. I think your purge valve should be mounted on top of that blue-nipple. As it is now, when you open your purge valve it will release NOS both to the atmosphere and to to the main nitrous solenoid. See what I'm saying? Perhaps your mechanic has something else in mind to stop the 'purge' nitrous from escaping, but this would seem like the most mechanically simple and expedient arrangement.

Unless you are going to use the 2nd solenoid to the left as your purge valve. But I have never seen it done that way. I have always seen the purge valve mounted first, tee'd off the main-line.

Sorry to alarm you if all is in hand.

Nitroman your comments are most welcomed and appreciated, I TY for your concern and I shall ask my NOS Mechanic about it since my knowledge around the NOS is elementary.

One more snapshot of NOS Installation
Image

Your project has me thinking how much I have spent to get my Elan to where it is today. Probable better that I not have that info. I'll leave the receipts were they are!

I priced what it would cost me today to do the needed upgrades to a Triumph TR8, a car I used to own. It came to $2500 in parts alone for 4-pot brakes, lowering springs, SPAX shocks, Offenhauser intake with Holley 4-bbl, headers, Lumenition optronic ignition, Delco alternator conversion kit, needle-bearing strut-tower inserts & a low-temp fan thermal switch. That is the minimum I would do to make this a viable ride.

It would also be hard not to get the $1,000 custom aluminium radiator now available, as once they are gone they may be gone forever, and the modern-design fans/cowling for $700, replacing the old design which drew 20-amps each, times 2 (fans), a constant 40-amp draw!!!

At least all these things are readily available for the TR8. If I ever again find my Elan in the shop with the proper components disassembled I will definately have some extra parts made for others.

TY all for the resources about NACA Ducts, it really looks better than the ones I had selected so far. I really cant decide to install it on the hood, it is Looks Vs Efficiency and in any other case I would choose blindly efficiency but when applied to a Lotus and even more to Sh4rk its kinda different.... I think I am gonna skip it for now and see how the engine temperatures go first.

I agree with Marie. If you have intakes from underneath, then having a vent to remove the hot air build up would be more beneficial. This way you would have a constant flow of air over the engine!

I've seen some neat 'Sh4rk' vents (louvres) positioned near the rear corners of the Hood on a current production car, perhaps 2" x 6" each? Problem is I can't recall where I've seen them! Having an exit vent too central and too far back may have the opposite effect to what you want... ???

uh, Brian, that would be the "Tiburon" (spanish for shark) with the side gills = pretty nice looking.
Doubt this would work and a bit vent like on the Evo 8 or a radical vent like on the Elise's nose would be overkill . . .
