Here are the pictures of the modified and microbalanced crank shaft. Its 1kg (2 pounds) less in weight than the stock one and has shark fin shaped edges so as to turn more easily and have less drag. Unfortunatelly I didnt have the stock one at the moment to picture them side by side and make the differences obvious.

Now here are the JE pistons with the conrods. The Con-Rods were weighted and a difference of about 5grs was noticed inbetween them. We set the one weighting less as benchmark and treated the 3 other to that weight so as all 4 are perfectly of the same weight.

Nice work!
You ARE taking this really serious... it would have been interesting to see the stock crank before lightening :(

Did they weigh each end of the Con Rod also before matching the weights? ;)

The modified one is allready installed and therefore i cant take a picture with the stock and the modified side by side. But I can take a picture of the stock one and post it and the differences are obvious on first sight. Will do so on Tuesday probably, untill then I just cross my fingers so as Sh4rk to be ready by then....
This is how the rear pannel looks like when its completed and polished by DSP and ready to install

And this is how it looks when its painted and installed on Sh4rk! That thing did cost me the trip to Dony... :-[

Shall I go for a street race with the owner of the Diablo which is at the back inside DSP excibition area? ;D

From his earlier post I think it was done as an on-car project; meaning there is no jig from which to make further panels. :'(
Strive for perfection in everything. (given time)
Take the best that exists & make it better. (given inclination)
If it doesn't exist, create it. (God did)
Ignore what I say. (good advice)

Errr actually they used my car as a model and built it exactly as I told them to on the car, but now they are able to produce as many as you ask them to if there is interest since they made a block pattern out of mine rear pannel just in case (I actually asked them to do so in case I have a rear side accident and need a replacement) The amazing thing is that the panel is screwed at the car and can be removed at any time and replace it with stock lights and pannel!

PS. Sy was right, the "S2" sticker is missing :(

GBP. If there is really interest I ll ask DSP of how much they would sell it and learn of how much costs shipping to UK and USA. I believe the more they produce the less they will charge, obvious isnt? ;) I ll ask.... :)

Anyways,
here is the Cylinder head Competition Gasget which of course is custom order & made (very damn expensive!)since the JE pistons are 1mm wider and we did treat the Engine Block accordingly, therefore stock gasget is of no use. Actually stock gasget is of no use anyways (material, thickness, piston rings) because I cant trust it (thats a personal opinion) at high boost pressures of over 1.5, it would be the most vulnerable part in the engine.

Custom made Head Cylinder Competition Gasget
Image

Placed on Engine while the JE Pistons Bling Bling Bling!
Image

In this picture notice the difference of colour on the Gasget, this is due to a sprayed layer of copper which reinforces the strength at high temperatures and seals better with Cylinder Head (the guys in the picture are just having fun at me ;D)
Image

Costas,

I have been following your build up regularly- I am astounded at your speedy progress and willingness to continue to get everything out of your M100. Bravo!

I get so many ideas when I read your posts- shame I have not found a shop that can do the magic yours can...

The rear light panel looks fantastic! I would be interested as well, but would question how well it would work for US version cars- if our license plates would fit...

Does the new panel have plate lights?
I like traffic lights. But only when they're green...

This guy was at Donington yesterday, I cant recall his name though :-[

He still had the mould for this, I beleive he used Elise rear lights (easily available). And the number plate is backlit.

http://www.awsnet.co.uk/lec/images/Donington05TS%20019.jpg
[/img]

Also, since the USA plates fit on Esprit, they will fit on this pannel as well ;)

The pannel is an exact copy of the Esprit rear pannel but with the only difference that it is adjusted on the Elan, meaning that it is made with a sloap instead of the verticallity of the Esprit's pannel.

On the picture that Tony posted, you will easily notice the difference on the plate area. Mine is exactly how Lotus build them with the plate area "curved" in the pannel (I insisted on that area) and not just a flat sloapped area. That guy on Tony's picture has done a great job nevertheless and If he did it with his own hands, my hat is off!

I dunno if the Elise lights are cheaper than Esprit's, perhaps they are the same lights? no idea there... mine are Esprit's anyways.

Check out the rear side of the Green Esprit on the picture and compare it with Sh4rk's. Thats my point.
Image
The recessed plate section does make all the difference - both look great, but the extra work does make it appear to be 'factory'
