Leather seats

Couldn't get a good photo today because of the low sun but I recently changed the gear knob to an aluminium ball from ebay

Not sure if I like it or not. I bought it to match the steering wheel but the other gear knob as listed above by maz_r might be better. I only changed it because my old one was looking a bit ropey. The steering wheel came with the car and I kept it because I thought it just lifted the interior a bit. I have no idea where the previous owner purchased it from. Its a slightly smaller diameter but the steering isn't that much heavier apparently (comments from people who drive with the original wheel). You can see where I installed the LED for the Toad alarm and put the V5 switcher after carefully trimming the naff logo that came with it. The switcher really should go to 11 not 7 (fans of Spinal Tap will know what I mean).

The piping on mine seems to be PVC and is bullet proof; never showed any signs of wear at all before the seat restoration. Double stitching could look nice if you mirror it on the other parts of the trim in the car, gear lever, brake leaver etc. Try and bring it all together to look OEM.



Going to head to Gawsworth Hall on the 4th May. A great venue if you love classic cars. Last year there wasn't a single M100 there. I'll make sure there is this year.

I have the S2000 seats but had a local firm do the trim for the door panels in leather. Found the gear knob and handbrake gaiters with red stitching on ebay and am very happy with the results.

As has already been mentioned, trim is very personal, I love mine, some others on here leave me cold. For example this looks great but not for me, worked for Easyjet once, that puts you off orange for life :

Bright red seats with grey bolsters seem to be becoming popular. They looked a bit loud when I first saw them for real but it only took 10 minutes before I really loved them.

Colour aside, re-trim time is the ideal opportunity to fit seat heaters.

The red carpet is a bit much for me, but I have made red floormats. I'm also thinking about getting gaiters for the handbrake and shifter in this style though. Can't decide whether or not to get an e brake handle and shift knob to match.

I thought Lotus was selling surplus Evora seats on ebay. That would be a worthwhile change.

They are: about 10 sets currently for sale on UK ebay. Colour choices, "used", some heated, some not and priced around £700-£800. One pair brand new cream at £1500 though.

For what it's worth, I'm getting mine re-trimmed in a couple of weeks. I'm getting mine done almost exactly the way yours is. The seats will be dark charcoal and red, in the same pattern as your seats, but I'm not getting the piping. I'm getting double stitching instead, like is done in most new cars. I also got some red carpet and replaced the carpet in the doors with it. I took the leftover carpet and cut floor mats. (I have mats like yours, and used them as templates) The re-trimmer is going to bind the mats using the same dark charcoal leather they're using on the seats, and I've put Lotus logo patches right in the center of the mats.
