Thanks Costas! The prices seem about right over here as well. I intend to get the gaskets and maybe the pistons. Does DSP still sell?

I have just 3 words for you now...YOU DID IT! ;) Cheers!

Lee Chapman Racing here in the states had a nice supply of black nose badges. He is who I bought mine from. Several others followed my post & purchased one from him as well, so I hope for you he still has some remaining. Contact him & find out as the price then (which used to be listed as $50 & cost less than the standard badge; I know as I kept a screen-printout!) was truly reasonable. I have a feeling he was sitting on a supply of them for many years which gathered dust in their factory boxes. Purely speculation on my part but I am guessing earlier LECers either cleaned out his original supply -OR- caused him to rethink the VALUE these black badges really have, as he has removed his price. He has been involved in racing Lotus cars for his entire life long though, and I imagine he has enough contacts to find you one. Just my hunch. Good luck, Matt

http://www.lotuselancentral.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=upgrades;action=display;num=1086402701;start=4#4

http://leechapmanracing.com/lotus51-61.htm

p.s. - if anyone else is thinking of acquiring one of these why not ask after Costas first to be sure he received his? You will talk to Lee Chapman directly so if done in a timely fashion he will certainly remember shipping a black-badge to Greece. Remember, it should be our duty to help Costas finish his black beauty at this point, as he has come so far on his own. What say you men? May we take a private oath on this?

Black nose badges were standard fitment on old Elans, +2s and Europas for a time in the late 60's and early 70's, I have one on my '68 S4. Urban Myth has it that they commemorate the death of Jim Clark but as I say that's an urban myth. However, I do not believe these are rare or unobtainable items, SJ sportscars have them listed at £45 each and I'm sure Paul Matty's have them as well. The script (Sans Serif) is wrong for the M100 and the fixings are not compatible either so you are looking at drilling holes or glueing. None of these are reasons not to fit a black badge, your car, your choice, but obtaining one should not be a problem.

Nige

Desmond
I have no idea what a piggy back is.

I havent gone yet to 1.6bar, you see engine "1000km smoothing" finished last week, I drove 250km at 0.5bar, another 100km at 0.8bar and now I am driving at 1.0bar for another 100km and I never go over 6500rpm. We keep postponing the dynoruns because we want to make sure 100% that everything is ok. We are checkin fueling, all temperatures etc and so far everything is PERFECT even better from what expected. For instance from 40-200km/h acceleration at 1.0bar and with gearin at 6500 we were afraid that temperature at Turbine would rise up to 900 degrees yet it didnt even reach 700 while oil pressure was normal (I guess the second oil cooler does its job :)).

1.6bar will be the dynorun boost pressure, after that I doubt its gonna be set over 1.3-1.4 considering the simultanous use of NOS.

The conrods were not changed but they were microbalanced, we used a jewllery balance and found differences between them of almost 5gr. Then found which one was weighting less and treated the 3 remaining at that exact weight.

Ask anything you want, my pleassure to answer all I know, after all it was LEC that enlightened me in many cases and encouraged me to keep going.

Dico
Seriously? too many times, my neck hurts :)

Nitroman
Mat thanks a million, your posts have always been of great help. I shall contact Lee Chapman first thing tommorow!

Elanman
Nige, that was news to me, thx, at least I dont worry now. I know that one way or the other I am gonna get one black badge.

ScotyJ
Thats one more reason to be ungry at myself because I missed Dony.... those rear lights..... but can you blame em? :)

Last week I bought the domain name www.sh4rk.gr (gr stands for greece of course :)) in order to upload all the videos we are gonna shoot and link them strictly with LEC only. I also rented a 10gb bandwidth per month and a 1GB storage space.

Happy? [smiley=sorcerer.gif]

PS. By the way, when It will all be set up I shall give SY, Doug and a couple others password for LEC use if needed.
