The long waited Dyno day has come at last.

During the past 2 weeks I discussed with Greg what our targets should be and after long talking we set these targets for the Dyno session.

Targets

1. Check and adjust proper fuelling since the TOMCO fuels injectors havent been used-tested before at least by DSP.
2. Check differences with previous dyno run 2 months ago, and for doing so we would have a dynorun at 1.18 bar boost so as to see what the fresh engine mods acomplished
3. Reassure that we have proper fuelling for running 1.6 bar with simultanous use of 75hp NOS.
4. Manage a 325hp dynorun at 1.6bar so as to acomplish 400+hp with the use of NOS at next dyno session
5. Check engine meters, especially pyrometer, we dont want that near 900 degrees mark, no matter what.
6. Examine the dynograms and decide if we should go for 8000rpm with remaping.

We tried to prevent any possible damage to the engine by being cautious and doing 3 weeks all kind tests. We thought we checked every single detail..... except one.

On the way to do the Dynoruns Greg turns to me and says "OMG, I am gonna shoot myself!" I asked him why and he said "I just hope that the Manual Boost Valve allows boost pressure of 1.6bar..." :o

I Videotaped all the dynossesions and will do some videoclips of it ;) I also will scan all the dynograms, but I dunno if I can make it tonight, if not I will do so on my return after 7-10 days time.

First Dynorun was at 0.7bar and what a pleasunt result to see all fuelling perfect at 7000rpm.

Then we dynoed at 1.15 to make a comparison with last dynorun 2 months ago, and the result was 286hp Power and 35kgm torgue. A big big big grim was allover Greg's face and mine and excited as we were we set the boost valve half turn loose. The ppl watching the dynorun started to yell for 350hp at 1.6bar and way over 400 with NOS!

Unfortunately no matter how loose the MBV was after that no higher boost pressure was allowed, we removed the MBV just for a sec and we did read Boost pressure over 1.6bar at 4000rpm but didnt go beyond that revs cause we couldnt adjust desired boost pressure.

Results

1. Excellent fuelling, couldnt be better! TOMCO are doing their job.
2. We did manage a noticeable increase in perfomance of 10hp power and 1kgm torgue but the big thing was not "what" but "how" and its a LOT FASTER than before.
3. Fuelling can easily handle 1.6bar pressure with NOS.
4. Will have to wait for another 2 weeks and a replacing MBV. Greg threw a couple of more ideas on the way back, but thats anoher story.
5. P E R F E C T! all readings were beyond my expectations, the pyrometer just touched 700 and that proved of the pottentials increasing power ahead.
6. A definatelly NO comes here, since as shown on Dynograms the HP line starts to drop after 6500rpm so a further increase in RPM will acompish nothing at all.

Apologies for the big post, but how else could I describe it?

I shall try to post Videos and Dynograms until tommorow morning, no promises.

Sh4rk will stay at DSP Lotus for the time I will be abroad and Greg will do everything needed to go for a 1.6bar dynorun as soon as I return.

Costas

FasteR Magazine: As far as we can tell, Sh4rk's engine will be one of the few things that will be still standing after a nuclear war!
