I'm tackling the inlet manifold on my M100 today, if it's done you might get both the Plus2 and M100 on its test drive. :)

Looking forward to it, forecast didn't look too ropey yesterday, but I have a towel for the knee if required. ;)

Ian.

Good luck with the manifold, I hope it goes well. Looks like the weather is drying out as the day goes on.

See you all tomorrow :)

Well it's still lashing down here at 11.00 so I will not be making the show now. :(
Hope it is better there for those who have braved it.

Sorry but my girlfriend was feeling rather poorly and had a rubbish night's sleep (which meant I did too).
That, combined with the weather (it's been tipping it down until now) has made us decide not to venture out far.
Typical that as I type this the sun comes out, but it's still over 100 miles away and the day is half gone so please accept my apologies for a no-show on this occasion.
Shame because I was really looking forwards to it. :(

Thanks Martyn for organising this, and great to see a couple of M100s on the stand today. Alas mine wasn't there as I only finished bolting it back together around 11pm last night and while I drove it over to Ilford this morning to meet Brian, I elected to jump in with him, which won me the chance to drive his Plus 2 back instead.

So my M100 sat on Brian's drive all day, and didn't get rained on, but his lovely Plus 2 endured spray and drizzle on the way there, some sun, a thunderstorm at Duxford and then a bit of a downpour on the way back home.

Nice to see Tim (and son) there and meet Steve (and family) with the early white M100 - and what a lovely example it is too, we will have to compare VINs. :)

I know, I know, I should have taken mine as well, especially as it drove very nicely indeed on my trip back home (A13, M25, A224). The sad bit is it's no easier to start, so I am back to the drawing board for a new theory on what to fix.

Had a great day as ever and met some top people. Not having a Lotus for a year you really miss these sort of events. Gutted I can't go to Brookland's this weekend, hope everyone going has a superb day. Ian, good to meet you to and see Bryans immaculate +2. Hope someone can cure your starting problem. Think I've sust which number mine is.. 61. A certificate from Lotus should sort it out. Cheers, Steve :D

We had a great time at Duxford yesterday despite the weather. Thanks to Martyn for organising it and the invite. Good to see Ian, that Plus 2 is a real beauty, I envy you the drive home in it. Sorry we didn't hook up Steve, Louis (my son) and I spent most of our time climbing in and our of aeroplanes and tanks! Maybe next time.
BTW Ian have you checked or replaced your fuel pressure regulator? Might be worth a try.

Replaced it, no. But I did check it - at no vacuum input, there is 3 bar, when sucked vigorously by mouth (ooh-err) on the vacuum connection, the pressure dropped to 2.4 bar, so I'm thinking it is still OK.

Thinking about it overnight and reading my 'AHJ' thread, I need to revisit the base map tests and try to set CO again, as last time it was messed up - I might hope that the inlet gasket was leaking before, now fixed and the idle bleed screw needs adjusting, as well as CO. Have a glance through my project thread if you will - any suggestions are really welcome. :)

The Plus 2 has a very nice feel to it on the road - brakes better than my M100 by some margin, no rattles from the cabin at all and to go round minor corners or change lane really only requires 'thinking about it' as the car is very subtle to drive. The gearchange is rather like we might call a quick shift and the pedals are quite a bit closer together, to make heel-toe easier, but for clod hopping trainers, slightly challenging at first.

I can only say it must have caused a bit of a stir in its day.

Hi Guys,

A big thankyou to all those who came along and braved the weather :D There's plenty of pics over on TLF for you to look at.

Please put this in the diary for next year as we will be back and it would be great to have you guys along as always.

See you next year or maybe even next week at brooklands.

Martyn.

Sorry for not showing up yesterday..

Was bringing my grandson to look round the Museums so daughter dropped him off Saturday evening so we could make an early start but forgot to give me his booster seat out of her car. Decided easy fix was to buy another from Halfords first thing on Sunday morning but didn't realise they don't open till 10.00 so drove home in pouring rain, got home about 10:30 to find grandson in loo with upset tummy and Duxford still about an hour away... so decided the omens were against me. Maybe next year...
