My 2 Elans were built 3 months apart in 91 - one has a/c and a 6 position heater control, the other has (or rather HAD) a 4 position control and no a/c.
I felt the 4 position was a bit restrictive so if you look at this thread you can see that they now do pretty much the same, just without the a/c on one.

That's great info guys, thanks. I guess it is just another one of those quirky production run things that make our cars..... well quirky
I'll feed the info back to Naomi at Metal Monkey and suggest that if she were to add the 4 position version to the MM web site, the customer should have the option to pick the appropriate panel.
