As I'm camping on site, I'll have a stove/kettle and can make it availlable on the stand - feel free to bring a handful of teabags / pint of milk / jar of coffee - I'm sure others may also wish to benefit (or even bring some supplies of their own for communal use ) (There should be plenty of water falling from the sky (or we can use a local standpipe)).

Dave: I'm hoping that Bibs will let me have another pass or two. I only need one for Nick, so if another one becomes available, then we have an additional space free for Saturday. I still have a couple of complimentary tickets if anyone needs a second one (that didn't ask for a second!). In the spirit of honesty I'll hand those back to Bibs if there are no takers from stand attendees.

Ian you sent me a car club admission ticket for both days but I already have a VIP ticket which should get me in if that's the case I have one spare and can meet up with Nick on the way to brands. If there are no taker's for the spare admission ticket's I can find a use for them.

In response to the request to make the LEC area at Brands a bit more 'branded' (see earlier in the thread) I wonder if something like this might be worth doing.

I took the Cat on skates LEC logo and managed to print it on some A1 paper. The disc is 48cm which will fit nicely inside the windscreen of our cars (i'm thinking Blutak or sellotape). If we printed enough we could put one in the cars in the front row on the 'grass strip' that faces the road, could give us some of the requested identity.

See what you think, we can cut away the white surround and leave just the disc.

If we think it is a goer I can print a few more but I'm not going to be at Brands until Sunday. Does anyone else have access to a plotter or printer that can print this size and is willing to use some ink and paper? I can send you the file to print.

Oops - I suppose I should have mentioned it earlier on this actual thread....

(Ian already knows, and it was discussed in the Moderators area, but I could have put it on here.... )

As we (LEC) seem to have temporarily mislaid the display stuff we used to use (we think we know where it may be, but can't reach the holder), I have sought permission from the 'Keeper Of The Kitty' to purchase something to do the job for now, whilst not being redundant when the other stuff surfaces.

As such, I have procured a 12' x 3' banner with this artwork....

We will be able to display it on a grass area with the cunning use of metal poles, baler twine, paracord, cable ties and pegs (okay, it's actually a little bit more 'proffessional' than that, but still fits with my ethos of "Why spend a pound when you can spend 20p and use 2 days to do the same thing". Alternatively (at other events?) it can be hung on a backing wall or whatever.

I have also created some A5 size flyers to hand out to anyone who may want one (but I've only printed 50, so may need some more for Sunday, depending how they go on Saturday).


That said, I can see no harm in anyone wishing to add to the overall effect, and anything useful which turns up over the weekend will be welcomed and used as required.


If we're trying to actually look the part, can anyone bring along a table and/or a gazeebo ????? (I'm sort of looking at Graham for a gazebo, if you're bringing the Bongo )

I know your not asking for opinions but im gonna point it out. #although i like the design, the color scheme in my opinion is bad, if the wording was all in green it would be better than yellow, specially with the white background.

I have a 6x3 meters gazebo that was purchased with the intent of getting the car painted inside, but due to the lack of fixing points in a cement surface and a mild wind day was never used.
cannot promise bringing it along tho as im not sure if there will be room for it together with a tent and whatever other resources i need to stay overnight on Saturday.
I Intend to bring a couple of fold up chairs (with respecting beer 'holes'), these should fit without a problem.

Is Pete (epipete) coming ? if not, i can leave the pas pump at home which will give some extra room in the boot.

I know what you mean about the colours, but it doesn't look too bad in the flesh (Blame Geoff for the decision to fade to yellow - i originally did it with green-yellow-green fading but *we* thought it better as it now is )

The big issue was the lack of time to get one made & delivered in time (I only thought about it last Friday, having failed to get hold of the other stuff we had) so didn't have a lot of 'consultation' time... it is easy to get banners printed quickly or cheaply, but not necessarily quickly AND cheaply!

Pete isn't coming, so the PAS pump can wait until next Thursday (but if you're not going on Thursday, feel free to bring it Saturday & I'll take it on).

If you can get the gazebo in the car, great - but if not, don't fret too much - it was only a thought to keep the persistant vertical 'sunshine' off us!

Chairs are always a good idea - i've got one in the car, and may chuck another couple in if I have room (should have - I've managed to get it all in before when we went camping in France for a week - and then I had the wife and associated 'necessary' extra luggage to fit in

Gents,

Last year we had just enough grass verge to park the cars on so unless we have double the space there isn't much room for paraphernalia, chairs, or gazebo. When they say stand that's what they mean

Just a thought though - if we are in the same place as last year the camping is just behind and there is loads of room for a rest area with beverage facilities, chairs, flags whatever you fancy, but someone will need to pitch early.

google says either take the M1 and pay toll or take M40 and follow south of London.
leaving Stafford at 5am estimates 3 to 3:30 hours trip in either circuit

If I stay at my parents place (Coventry) I can save about 50 minutes drive.

anyone from london can shed some light on the state of the M25 south half state in a saturday morning?

The M25 will be ok in either direction on a Saturday morning before about 9am after that it gets busier but still as broad as it is long. I was in Coventry a couple of weeks ago - You have roadworks on the A45 and M1 but they probably wouldn't be too bad on a Saturday morning. Blackwall tunnel is a good suggestion if you are going via the M1 it is a bit built up for a few miles but get across to the A20 and you have a good duel carriageway to Swanley roundabout - It is more interesting than the Dartford tunnel and can be quicker.

I always take the M40/M25 when going to Kent/Gatwick.

Much quicker than the M1. In addition there are road-works on the M1 from the M6 junction down to south of Northampton, about 20 miles in all, at max speed 50mph. The M40 however is pretty much clear all the way and is slightly shorter. You can get to Dover from Kenilworth in approx. 3 hrs with average traffic and Gatwick in 2hrs. I have done these destinations quite frequently in those times, so Brands Hatch should be a doddle!! (that's slang for easy!!!!).

Thanks Joao - I took the obvious opportunity to re-use a bookings system I made for the VBOA (I handle their Autojumble bookings), so stripping off the VBOA logo and adding the LEC one was easy. It can distribute pre-filled in forms completely automatically as emailed PDFs and print automatically when no email address is available, so I simply didn't enter anyone's email addresses. I've hardly tickled it really for this, as I made it evaluate previous bookings for the VBOA so I could stop hassling people who hadn't responded in 3 years without deleting them from the database.

Anyway, just Nickydee to sort and my preparation is complete. Must go and see if my Elan still works and give it a splash of soapy water before 0700 Saturday.

Really pleased we have a banner and do like the cat-on-skates roundel as well I can print small ones (A4) on a slightly rain-resistant laser printer if anyone wants to adopt that theme also (it is, after all) compatible.

In the Astra Mk2 OC, I used to produce spec sheets for all the cars present, branded with the club logo and to a consistent format - it made recognition of the cars really easy on the day because all the spec sheets carried the owner's name and forum ID. I just don't have that amount of time these days to do something similar, but it does work well as a bit of branding.

Joao, while I'd love to say 'PLEASE bring a gazebo' I have been warned off from several people more in the know than I, that the stand isn't big and we'll be full at 20 cars. I think we'll play it by ear this year and then ask for more space next year if this is a success - build in space for more attendees and a communal tent / brew area etc. I'm happy to go to Tesco and buy some disposable cups and a jar of coffee if no one has already done so. The venue has outlets very nearby but they know they have a captive market and charge accordingly.

And for anyone arriving and wondering who I am, I expect I'll be wearing a slightly faded red Vauxhall 'VXR' cap - my excuse is it matches the car and I haven't bought a Lotus one yet.

OK Alan, thanks - that does make it easier. I did add a second ticket to your envelope as I thought you'd need it for a passenger, big day and all that.

If you need a replacement to bring your own guest in, if you come and find me on arrival I will give you the spare and you can nip back to the gate to pass it over.
