Carpet Sets

I have acquired a set of used grey that need a clean and not much more.

I am looking at this myself, if you give coverdale uk ltd paper templates they will make up a set, apparently!!

However, i have asked them to quote me for enough carpet to make my own, although I am in no rush to do this more a winter job. I have also been looking for vinyl and other bits and bobs, such as window trims, to freshen the car up and to be honest mine is in quite good condition. Wish the mechanicals were as good, but at 18yrs young its all getting a bit tired.

If you have any luck please post back or if I end up doing this myself I will try to get some pics sorted and posted, why not share the pain, its all part of the fun.

I contacted Coverdale recently enquiring about M100 carpets and they don't do them, I reminded them they did a set for a chap in Ireland back in March/April and they sais yes, we did, but didn't keep the paterns!

Oh dear - that's annoying! I was planning to call them sometime soon for a set.

They will produce carpets to customers templates, if the old carpets are removed and drawn round onto thick paper they are happy to work from these. But the M100 original carpets have some moulding to their shape, i.e. they're not all flat?

I've still got my old carpets I took out of the red car if someone wants to use them as templates.

They are sat in the garage, and aint in great condition, but if you want to chop them up, or send them off to a manufacturer, then you are welcome to them.

Thanks for the info guys. It is more the door carpets that are shot (too many times of being taken on and off I'll be bound!)

Anyone in the need of flat carpets it may be worth looking for “Carpet whipping service” in your local area.

These were done using left over bathroom carpet.

They have a Lotus section on their web-site and have clearly made ELAN carpets before.

There is a company in the Netherlands, Ricambi-AutoMobilia, that makes them in velours for M100's in different colors and with a different trim color. They list them on the US ebay site for US $124. Here is a link to a current listing for a black with red trim set.

Anyone tried dying / recolouring their carpets?

I bought some carpet off Ebay and cut and fitted it to my car. A few places could look better but man its much better then what was in there. It looks great and cheaper then having someone else do it! I was really surprised of how it came out. I'll post some pictures of it this weekend if it stops raining. I did it about a month ago and forgot to take some pictures. Here is the link to the guy I bought the carpet from. I got the Medium Grey colored.

I bought a spare set of red carpets from one of the Aftersales events at Hethel some years ago - I originally thought they would be useful to replace the carpets in my first Elan when they got worn.

However I've now decided to put them into my new Elan (which did have grey trim). I'd like to cover some spare speaker boxes that I have and the seatbelt covers with the right coloured carpet - if it's possible to find any - but that still leaves me with the problem of finding the rear bulkhead trim including the map pocket.

So, does anyone know of any unwanted red trim lurking about in breakers etc., or does anyone have the spec's/manufacturer details of the original carpet?

Hi all,
I've been thinking about dying my carpets black to make them look a bit fresher. Anyone tried? It should be possible if they are wool or Nylon. Anyone know what material they are?

I looked at dying mine when I did the interior a few years ago, but decided to just replace them all with black carpet. All of the pieces are either flat, or nearly flat (with a few bits which aren't) and it wasn't a difficult job to do using the old carpet as a template and a heat gun to mold it around the bits which needed it.

The main pieces (along the drivers side and passenger side) are basically a 'U' profile, and with a couple of cuts up by the bulkhead the flat carpet will fit quite easily, with all overlap joints either just layed over the fixed piece, or held with spray glue.
