Thanks for the contact info. On Christmas we had rain coming down in buckets. Early in the day it was clear and we took the car over to my parents. Then it started raining and we found the leaks in the side seals. To make matters worse I heard water sloshing in the left door sill. Now the hunt is on for how the water got in there and dry out the sill. We have only had it for about 2 months and are still learning what else is wrong.

Chris, it is a steep learning curve, the first two months of my ownership the car spent at the mechanics (I didn't push them as it was Jan/Feb) that was 6years ago and it is still revealing things even now.

The water in your footwell has three possible sources that I can think of:

1. Failure in the Coolant System in the vicinity of the heater matrix. You'd know if it was this because you'd overheat!
2. Ingress via the seals, the top window or the A Post are most likely where it abuts the header seal (though I'd expect you to be able to see if it was this)
3. Via the outer glass/door seal or the door seals themselves, water getting in here should exit over the plastic Cill panel and drain away from the car due to it having an internal lip. It can get overwhelmed though so it is a possibility!

There is a contentious forth, this bring from below in the Cills themselves, personally I don't go along with this theory!

Whichever it is you'll need to work out and remedy accordingly but you do need to remove those carpets, get out and replace that ghastly spongy underlay and replace it with some closed cell foam. And check the outriggers for rust.

As my hood is usually pulled back, it was quite sun bleached so I coloured the inside as well.

Geoff, I'm sure that was very carefully worded to ensure that the only filth was in our minds, so it was either very well written, or I've just embarrassed myself!

I've seen it in the flesh Neil and it wasn't a pretty sight
