Its been around for a while so I've no idea why it hasn't sold. I like the colour and the bonnet vents would be an easy fix as replacement bonnets appear all the time on eBay so it would be fairly simple to get one painted in the same colour. Anybody actually been to see it?

Me too. I've seen it advertised on Ebay at least 3 times now

With reference to the bonnet, wasn't SurfboardPhil selling a bonnet along with side panels last week? I'll see if I can dig the advert out if anyone's interested in the burgundy/silk red car

Ref E14 NPP http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151978766652? ... EBIDX%3AIT
Messaged the seller and he says the cambelt has now been done. Previous seller said the performance upgrade was £350; this guy says £500 :?
He says that the receipt is from Lotus (he didn't clarify whether factory, dealer or independent) and it says "turbo boost kit fitted and boost set"
What would that be? Not sure when it was done but sounds like it wasn't done recently.

My old green stripey one for sale! Has a lovely engine, drives really well. Has/had a bit of sunshine damage here and there, spent a lot of money to get the lights to work properly(opera glass ones) well worth a look, to anyone interested, maybe see if Rambo knows of its past??

It has a very nice description in the advert, says nowt about the car but captures the spirit beautifully!

Delusional or what?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1990-LOTUS-EL ... Swo0JWJ-X7

With paintwork like that it needs serious attention (if it was 'just' needing 'compund and polish' he'd have done that!)......................and the fact that he's been trying to sell this for well over a year doesn't bode well!.

Hmmmm.....

....poetic licence used in the advertising.

The 'agreed value' is by Flux insurance - they will agree virtually any value you want (within reason, obviously!) without ever inspecting the car - as long as you pay the appropriate premium.

If it were done with some of the other specialist insurers, they require either a set of good photographs, or a report from Club Lotus (or an approved 'agent' - Paul Matty is one, and I'm sure there are others).

It purely relates to the 'write-off' payment which will be made for a total loss, and has nowt to do with market value.

Now, not wishing to call it a dog, or talk down Elan 'values', there are far better cars about for the money. This one needs work (I fully appreciate that some good stuff has been done, like the wishbones), and the quality of the paintwork is shocking. I dread to think what amount of preparation has been done before applying the paint with a roller!

I'm sure that it will find a home with someone (it's a drivable rolling project, after all) - - - - eventually - - - - at the right price.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

If I had an insurance agreed value of £9,500 on a 176,000 mile H reg SE I'd be tempted to buy a box of matches ... :D

You were robbed by the Scottish Motor Services stealership Scott. Thought it was only £2500 they begrudgingly gave you anyway  Your AP front calipers, rear upgrade and the SS wishies were worth that alone

PS SMS have re-branded as Dick Turpin Motors
