Late last night we heard the devastating news that Sy had passed away.
A true LEC stalwart and far too young.

Ohwww..... Sad news indeed! I just learned that our neighbor across the street also passed away last night...

What a tragedy 
I was only just asking Clemo yesterday if he had heard any news about Sy
I haven't seen him since Donington disappeared off the calendar but I always looked forward to our annual meet up, curry, and, of course, a pint or two
He will be sadly missed by me. And I certainly wont be the only one
PS Geoff - do you have private contact details for Doug ? Can you let him know asap as he too will be very sad to hear the news

Sad news, I never met him but he was always one of the "big" names on LEC from when i joined away back in the day. Condolences to Family and Friends.

Doug is aware as we wanted him to know before we went open forum.
Yesterday I passed Paul Matty's on my way home from Manchester. As Sy used to live close by he was in my thoughts. I was devastated to hear this news when I got home in the early hours.

Sy was always massively supportive and a fantastic character. I can't believe he's gone.

Sad news indeed. Condolences to his family. It's quite a testament to Sy that he will be missed even by people whom he never met.

I am very sad to hear this news. I really didn't want to open this post.
Sy was always a larger than life character and leading light of LEC. His efforts, along with Doug, Nige and the like, shaped the character of the early LEC and are the reason that LEC is the best Elan site on the Internet by a country mile.
I have many happy memories of Doningtons past, sharing time with Sy over a curry, a pint, or anything Lotus. The next big meeting won't be the same.

Such a sad loss .
A very talented man that worked on many important tasks in his military vocation.
From the early pre forum days of LEC that brought us together for a car club meeting in a dusty cold carpark.
And outside of cars a keen wildlife spotter ...

I'm in shock, not been on the forum for a long time. Heard the news through Dico, he was a well know character and loved by so many. LEC was his life and i miss the good old days with the gang and Sy, going to Donny, having curry and a few beers. Miss those days. Here's to you Sy

Sy was a Gentleman and a stalwart of our community. Don't know if I would ever have bought my Elan without discovering this forum, and meeting Stevo.
I still have fond memories of the hill climb weekend when Sy opened his house and back garden for a good few of us to camp. He had erected a beer tent and laid on some kegs of ales.
Stevo proceded to do donuts in Sys ajoining field. A great weekend and a highlight of my LEC life, all down to Sys huge heart and generosity.
Condolences to his family.

Condolences to Simon's family. I live about 3 miles from Simon and regularly saw him driving up and down the A38 between Lydiate Ash and Droitwich. If details of his funeral can be posted when available I'll go along if I'm free.
