My condolences to his family. I only saw him once at the last Donington Festival, but from what I have read on this site he was obviously a well liked and generous guy.

He took a run out from his home one day and headed west towards Rhayader and the Elan valley (where else ?) in Powys

I kept them because I particularly like the one with the outflow of the dam immediately behind Stripey

I remember briefly meeting Sy in 2013 before we all drove in convoy into Donington. Managed to dig this photo out of the archives.

I can't believe that you and Sy never met, David. That's the internet for you. Here's a couple more pictures.

There's lots of memories of Sy that are not in photographs, but I like the picture of my car next to Stripey at the Lotus 60th celebrations, and the one of Sy with his eBay special engine that he displayed at the LEC stand in 2005 (I think Ailwyn eventually bought it, then ...?).

Truly saddened by this news. I often thought about the days when LEC was much more active than it is now and Sy was always at the head of it. He had a mighty hand shake too. RIP Sy
