But what can we do?
Also.................... getting away from this thread (sorry moderators) been looking on fleabay and saw cars "unrecordered" and it is quite shocking the state some of the cars are in, so you could pay top money for a car that has been bodged up and is possibly dangerous to drive, and cars like mine with little damage and fully inspected cannot get half decent money, and caT D's can vary so much depending on the examiner. I sometimes give up about this country "Yee Haa" cowboys rule????
Hope you all had a good easter

Cars can only be recorded if the person has input access to MIAFTR. Under the process (2002 Road Regulations) prior to October 2015, anybody that had a car or derived van where the repair costs exceeded the PAV had (should) have surrendered the V5c to DVLA for a VIC check to be carried out. VIC has been abolished but any vehicle that is designated and recorded as cat A or B on MIAFTR will never get a V5c issued, all cat C V5'c should be shredded and a replacement will have a notification from DVLA.
With regards cat D, it was and still is a financial decision and is a CTL.

VIC Abolished:
The most prominent reason for introducing changes is that the VIC scheme proved largely ineffective since its inception as only 40 “ringers” had been identified from almost 916,000 vehicles subjected to a check. Moreover, with developments in modern vehicle technology it has been made more difficult to “ring” cars and thus the decision was made for the DfT to end the scheme given the associated costs of running and maintaining such a system.

I think VIC is simply Vehicle Inspection Check.
The other one i'm not sure, think its just an insurance database of all claims ?

I'm going to Worcester on Saturday. If anyone wants me to look at it, I will try to do so. It's being sold by JC Cars according to eBay, but strangely it isn't on their own website. However, their address is so I can go and look, if the car is actually there!
