Well, I've said it before, so I might as well say it again.....(even if it risks the wrath of Neil for being not only a duplicate, but a multiple entry)

..... It doesn't matter if you're after an SE, S2 or NA - when a good one comes up, it will sell very quickly - whatever the price (within reason, obviously).

I like to think that I know as much about Elan pricing and sales as the next bloke (as long as the next bloke isn't Clemo!), and when i saw that Mark had put Rambo up for sale (<<<< just for the record, as far as I'm concerned, Rambo is the car, not the former or new carer for him!>>>>) I knew it wouldn't hang around for long.

This whole thread (and original advert) is a great example of "how to sell a car" - informative text, good pictures, list of history, (fair price from an honest owner, goes without saying!).

Marks car (or is it Simons?) is one of the better known ones on here - because he uses the bloody thing! - As such, when we met a couple of weeks ago I wasn't at all surprised to see the car in great condition, despit its' unplanned trip down from the wilds of Gaelic Land...... it's one of those elans that you know you can just jump into and it'll get you there - higher mileage than some desire, granted, - but regularly used, well looked after, and one I would have bought myself if I had the need for an excellent daily driver (but despit how good I may or may not be, even I can only drive one car at a time).

Just considering the last 12 months or so, there have been many people on here looking for cars, and there have been many listed for sale - some of which have raised discussion amongst the community, and some I have had an opinion on which I may or may not have voiced....
The point being that anyone who seriously wants an elan can go out and get one today, but if you want a good one, then this forum is the best way to buy one (obvious exceptions apply!) - and you need to be lucky/quick.

As I say, in just the last year there have been (possibly) 4 or 5 cars advertised on here by long-standing members of good repute (Is it just me that's now thinking "How does Dico fit that description?"), any of which I would be pleased to own - all different, but all similar in the care, time and effort (NOTE - Money deliberately not mentioned) spent on them during their past ownership.

There is a 'common denominator' between 3 of those cars - Mark. He bought one after I knew of it's potential sale, he got another (which I wanted myself ) before I knew it was going to be available, and then sells the red one to a new custodian - so, he still has 2 great elans to chose from, and Simon gets the Billy Bargain (so far!) of 2016.

The point of this (long and boring) thread being, if you want a good elan, get it from a member of this forum who has a documented history and you will know what to expect - and if you want to sell your elan, get out there with the members and get it (and yourself) known - it's the best free advertising you can ever get.

(and before you ask, this is NOT a precursor to me trying to sell my car - that ain't going to happen)

TBH I do think I've got exactly what I was after ... A well sorted and looked after car at a good price ... One I can tinker with and possibly improve astheticly without that sounding rude ... And know it will start and run ok

Is looked at 3 and this is overall the best both on price and condition .... AND those pesky sills have been sorted !!!

It really was with a heavy heart when I saw Rambo go out of the drive for the last time This has been the best, most exciting and reliable car I have ever owned. It's been in my ownership for half of its 25 year life and still draws admiring and coveted glances wherever it goes

Thanks to those that commented on my car, both on here and by PM. Having a good advert is one thing, but having endorsements from knowledgeable people on LEC is the icing on the cake

I'm sure you will all welcome SimonR on here. He is a good bloke and has been a pleasure to deal with. He is a petrol head, like most of us, and enthusiastic and will no doubt be on LEC a lot with photos, driving experiences and, no doubt, the odd cry for help

So, goodbye old pal. Hope we meet again another day. But for now, enjoy those fast, twisty roads in the Peak District
