You mean this one ?

I'm going to Worcester on Saturday. If anyone wants me to look at it, I will try to do so. It's being sold by JC Cars according to eBay, but strangely it isn't on their own website. However, their address is so I can go and look, if the car is actually there!

" more history than Warwick Castle!!"

Strange thing to say ? More appropriate to say Worcester Cathedral surely :?

Sorry Guys, I did respond to your questions, but somehow I cant find my reply, so here goes:

In the Insurance world we do use a lot of acronyms

PAV Pre Accident Value
MIAFTR Motor Insurers Anti Fraud & Theft Register
CUE Claims Underwriting Exchange
VIC Vehicle identity check. VIC was introduced as a Government initiative under VCRAT to reduce vehicle crime. It required category A B & C cars and derived vans to be notified to DVLA, insurers decided to do this via MIAFTR which triggered the test. All others were required under the 2002 Licencing receipt's shown for purchased parts.regulations to surrender the V5 to DVLA. The VIC test was only literally an identity check and the vehicle only had to drive from point a to b at the VOSA testing station. Certainly not what Insurers wanted, we would have preferred a check for road worthiness and The VIC was not cancelled because of the relatively few vehicles identified, after all who would present a ringer for testing, the committee actually decided because of the results it worked. VIC was abolished in October 2015 and at the same time DVLA agreed to stop issuing V5c for ant cat A or B vehicles. A new COP will be released later this year.

Sorry to disagree:

"What is the problem under consideration? Why is government intervention necessary?

The aim of the Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) inspection is to detect fraud but it has been ineffective and is not capable of detecting most current day vehicle fraud. Since introducing the scheme only 40 cases of fraud were detected from 942,000 checks. The rationale for abolishing the VIC scheme is because it is burdensome on motorists and is not fulfilling its intended purpose to combat vehicle ringing. In addition the burden of the cost of the VIC scheme tends to fall disproportionately on people with moderate and lower incomes because these groups are more likely to own low value and older vehicle types.

What are the policy objectives and the intended effects?
The rationale for abolishing the VIC scheme is because it is burdensome and is not fulfilling its intended purpose to combat vehicle ringing. The intended effect of abolishing the VIC scheme is to reduce the costs on the motorist."

I phoned the salesman today and he told me there was something wrong with the gearbox and the mechanic was checking it out, when I phoned back he wouldn't talk to me so decided not to bid especially as it needed a new cam belt ,set of tyres and a pillar seals , from what I could glean from the first salesman .

Have a look at the bidding patterns Jamie. 20 bids in the 1st hour then nothing. WTF ?

Quite a few of them with lots of retracted bids in the last 6 months ie r***y (532) with a massive 29

Admittedly, the car looks great and it is a very good advert with excellent photos .... Lovely paintwork and presented very well....

But, yet again, I have to question the dubiety of EBay bidding

Car is being sold by an LEC member. I suspect the bidding patterns are a function of how ebay works. Most of the bids are from one person (who yes has made a lot of retractions!): he was probably trying to outbid someone who had put in a much higher maximum bid without over doing it. He only succeeded when he exceeded that figure. Bidding looks normal thereafter.

But realistically given the source and the obvious good condition I expect it to reach a much higher figure than it is at the moment. I went to see the red one in Worcester last weekend: seller was bit off to say the least and he never started it up. I tried to go back but he put me off!!! It went for £7500 eventually: much more than I would have paid without seeing it running, test driving or knowing the provenance. The car was full of water on both sides, as the window to door seals had gone, but the main hood to window and A post seals were all in very good knick. Would have liked to get at cills to inspect, but no chance... (also see kipperozzy's comments on it)

I went to have a look at the yellow one he sold last year. Wouldn't take me for a test drive until I'd bought it so I didn't bother . Accused me of being a time waster later on here!

Sorry but I don't normally reply to posts but that simply isn't true. You never even made me an offer for the car. I said I would take you out in the car providing we could agree a ballpark price beforehand. At this point I would of taken you out in the car to show there were no issues and we could of moved forward with the deal. I don't take anybody and everybody out in a car I'm selling as its often a waste of time. My experience is a genuinely interested buyer will make an offer prior to a test drive. If acceptable, the test drive comes next. Sorry my car my rules. What would be the point? We spent 30 minutes driving around and it turns out the deal was never going to happen anyway as I wanted lets say £6000 and you were only prepared to offer £3000. I sold a lovely Porsche I owned from almost new a few years ago. Spent hours with one guy and had a full 1hr test drive and even let him drive. At the end, he never even made me an offer as he said there were a few stone chips on the front bumper. The test drive was a complete waste of time as he never intended to buy the car no matter what the condition. He was just a time waster and wanted a drive/be driven in a nice car. Lesson learnt for me.

The red one sold by jc cars on eBay is now advertised in auto trader at a garage 30 miles away for less than what it was sold for on eBay , not bad must have bought the car and fixed the gearchange issue and then decided to sell at a loss
NFC !
The salesman told me he might have to take it off eBay then it turns up cheaper elsewhere

I wonder what eBay will make of it

Apollo

As you regularly sell cars and car parts and indeed you are registered on ebay as a trader. Surely you should consider what you term "time wasters" as an occupational hazard. Far from me too tell you how to run your business but surely this something you have to bear like all the other dealers out there - I have never met a dealer who insisted on you making an offer before a test drive. Does that mean you will refuse requests from anybody who wants to drive one of your cars which are currently listed on ebay before you win the auction.
