M100 national meeting - (DISCUSSION)

recent conversation and peoples reminiscences of the good old days at Donington have got me thinking......
how interested would people be in just an M100 weekend or just a Saturday Night knees up
if it was a weekend I think curry and beer Friday night.....drive out Saturday......posh nosh or BBQ Saturday with more quaffage.......followed all going home on the Sunday..........
basically if it was a Saturday knees up it be say meet up at the venue lunchtime for either check in or tent putting up...drive out.....food n beer.......sleep.....go home Sunday.......

and from there........once we've decided on if we'd like to do something.......
what accommodation?......tent or hotels.......or a mix of both.......
then I guess where...or at least general location.......
do we head to Donington and make it say a Lotus Cup weekend then people could if they want stop and watch the racing on the Sunday........

its all out there for discussion......

Nice idea Gareth. I'd be up for it, could organise a Friday curry night if necessary, and would be happy to lead a little Saturday afternoon blast to Melton Mowbray again.

Me and Muley (+ a few others the likes of Scott, ChrisT, Stef, DavidEJM et al....) have our LEC national meet at Silverstone Classics every year and have done for the past 6 years or so since Donny's demise

Great w/e, 2 for the price of 1 tickets, great racing, good live bands, BBQs, much tyre kicking, beers and banter aplenty...

Just another idea to throw into the LEC mix

Donington do a Masters meeting and this year it should include the F1 cars.
Like a smaller Silverstone Classic but the possibility of getting a hotel as not so busy.

Vinnie: try looking a the UK Regional meetings section Lancs/Yorks area. They have met at Cubley Hall Penistone (which is pretty close to Sheffield if my geography is right) and also at Marsden which is a bit further. May be worth posting on the thread.....

It would be nice to have a meet but asking people what they want will not usually get a result.
Then you discuss dates & it keeps moving backwards & forwards because there will be plenty who would like to go but they can't all make it at the same time. (I said this on another forum a while back & the date suggested clashed with something I had already arranged so I screwed myself over!).

I am tempted by Silverstone Classics but have we missed the tickets for this year or not? I have also never been to Silverstone without freezing my butt off..apart from when I ran a half marathon there last month.
If we are looking for an Elan weekend, do we need a track? A Friday night meal followed by a Saturday drive out then Saturday night pub crawl would be a complete weekend event in itself. We could do most of that anywhere.

I (feebly) tried to kick start something like this before and it ended up with as many opinions about what/where/when as there were interested parties, so it never got to critical mass.

Best bet (imho) is to put a stake in the ground and if people can't make it or it doesn't appeal, so be it. I think this is a proper case of 'if you build it, they will come' ).

I will try my best to be there!

I agree with most of the posts above. Great idea - I miss the era of the annual Donington weekend meet. Just need someone to propose a date and I reckon enough people will sign up to make it worthwhile

ok....so the idea was just to get a level of interest....
if people put their suggestions in then all well and good but after that it was all going to get a bit draconian and a case of 'this is whats happening'.........
my biggest concern is accommodation.....I know Rambo and Rip et al go to the Silverstone Classic....but there are people who don't want to spend the night under canvas.........
I think the venue of something like was done in the lake district was good.......we need a hotel that allow tents in the garden that's next to 10 pubs and a curry house.......

if no one is bothered about doing anything other than driving round and evening quaffage and curry then the locations are endless
