After many discussions with Wayne, it has become clear that the company in China that quoted him a favorable price to reverse engineer the light covers has no intention of honoring their quote or even getting close to it.

They waited until I sent a BRAND NEW cover to be used as the pattern (after Wayne previously sent them a slightly damaged sample to use for their quote), and then stated that they "misunderstood" our intentions and the cost to make replacements would be 3 to 4 times their original quote. They also appear to be unwilling to return my NEW cover and negotiations are at an impasse.

I have asked the mods to lock this topic as there is no way to go forward with the new pricing being offered.

We are sorry to have taken so long to make this decision, but every time it looked doomed, they would contact Wayne and start another round of negotiations.

Why lock the topic? It wasn't you who started the initial list as far as I'm aware. Did the original poster officially hand over the project? What about the people from the alpine forum?

Sorry, I have been handling it for quite a while after Franck passed it off to Wayne and me. Wayne isn't very active anymore, so rather than keep everyone's hopes up, I felt it best to cap it. The Alpine group went their own direction a long time ago and had some silicone mold versions cast.
