Set of OZ for sale on Gumtree (SOLD)

If anyone is considering these (or any other wheels) bear in mind they can look straight, i.e. they look round with no flat spots, but once on the balancing machine you can see them moving in and out when viewed from above. When trying to find a spare I had a few from DVB that looked straight but couldn't be balanced due to the excessive side to side motion which can't be corrected or at least so I was told by an engineering company. It seems this type of warping is quite common due to the large offset on the wheel.

Anyway at that price I'd want 4 newish tyres, all the same, on refurbished wheels. Considering the car they are going on the tyres are worthless anyway. Always amazes me who mixes tyres on a performance car and especially ones where the side wall is cracking due to age. Even with the company car I had the fleet manager refused to mix manufacturers tyres on the same car and when a couple needed replacing and they couldn't get the same tyre they replaced all four.

Nah.. think it's more likely due to reason the car is in DVB Scrap yard is not a good place to find straight wheels. I don't believe they warp, more likely bent slightly when driver just clips a bank or kerb at speed.

I had the fleet manager refused to mix manufacturers tyres on the same car and when a couple needed replacing and they couldn't get the same tyre they replaced all four.

I used the word warp to best describe the distortion caused by 25 years of impact. I didn't mean that they twist out of shape from nothing other than our brilliant scorching weather.

I think the fleet manager didn't want to be sued as mixing tyres will at best make the handling characteristics on the limit a little uncertain. I don't put a price on safety and anything that might possibly compromise the handling I consider dangerous. Upside down M100's and occupants don't go well together. For the very occasional £250 is it really worth the risk? Thats only just over a pint of lager a week..... or if you are in London one round of drinks a year.

Reckon it needs less than 1/10th of a second of impact to bend them. 20 years ago I went to Romford to look at 4 SE wheels for sale but jacked my car up, took a wheel off, and spun them on my hub with a dial gauge against the rim and came away with 2 straight wheels, leaving the guy with his 2 bent ones. Mine are still straight.

I think it unlikely fleet manager could be sued for having a mix of LEGAL tyres, though I totally agree with your ideal of having the same tyres all round. I bought my second SE from Chris Neil on a mix of different makes of tyres and I had those two other wheels with almost new Goodyear Eagle F1 so took them all off and lined them up to choose the best 2. I was amazed that 205/50/15 tyres could have such different profiles dependent on manufacturer. Ended up buying 4 more Eagle F1's.
