Sorry to bounce an ancient thread - but my lock handle just fell to pieces and this thread was really useful, so thanks again Phil!
Only two things I'd add, firstly I didn't have much luck trying to push the spring into the mount with any sort of prod (its too stiff!) - however, I found the solution was to put the spring in the mount first and insert the start of the rod through the hole to keep it in place, then to just push the handle into the mount, which then pushes the plastic lug into place between the spring and the mount, finally push in the rest of the retaining rod/pivot - easy job.
Secondly removing the lock from the glovebox - probably obvious, but in case it isn't to anyone, there is a thin plastic U clip round the top of the lock inside the glovebox, unclip that and the lock mount is easily removable.
