mmmmn.... looks a bit like my first Collapso Red where every panel faded to a different red, or pink!

MOT'd on 11th July 2016 with mileage at 102,692 but previous MOT was 20th June 2006 with mileage at .. guess what ..... 102,692 !!!

So maybe 10 years to change the chassis, but what about the cambelt? and as for the "Overall, a good reliable car ready for the road" - if it hasn't done any miles in 10 years how would the owner know?

on the rear window... I always like the idea of zip out rear windows and wondered why somebody like M100 Hoods don't offer it. Hood probably works OK in rain without a window when moving, just a problem when you stop..

Leave me alone, I think I know what I'm doing.

Might be to do with the kipper I stuffed under the passenger seat the last time I was down seeing you.

PS remember to check your exhaust manifold next time we meet up. You might discover an Arbroath smokie lurking under the bonnet

Yep, dealers all trying to get a piece of the action. That silver one has been for sale for months, starting to come down in price now I think.

I guess the only advantage with dealers commanding top dollar is it does help the enthusiast sell their genuine car when they try to move on as pricing is generally realistic. I nearly always buy private to cut the hard sale talk and get a real view of the car.
The Elan's day is coming though as more get scrapped or broken for parts by groups like Douglas Valley the cars will become more scarce.
Look what happened to the Esprit, I used to see S1's go on eBay for around 4K not that many years ago now worth £30k plus!
I was considering the 5000 mile car for a while but the dealer would not negotiate at the time, it will come down and go for about £15-16k at best guess?

How has it ended up on an 'N' plate though if it isn't an S2 ?

From the partial VIN number in the photo it appears to be an S2. Built 1995 (code S), RHD with Catalytic Converter (code A).
There may be a plausible explanation for the lack of Ltd Ed. Plate, but I would certainly cross-check the V5, engine bay and chassis VINs anyway.
I've submitted a question to the Vendor, awaiting reply.....

Yes Lotus didn't put the Ltd. edition number on if it might be considered unlucky eg 13. Instead they put the ELAN Lotus Design one on.

Looks pretty genuine to me - There are a few givaways.
