I'm sure if i'd packed it better it would have been easier - but I'd got my tent in the bottom of the boot, then airbed, sleeping bag, tools, petrol can, odds/ends, brolly, chairs, etc etc....

...... the metal spikes for the banner only just fit in the boot (widthways), but it could have been done if needed.

As I had no passenger, using the other half of the car was easier.

If I'd put the roof up before leaving I would have had storage space behind the seats - but then i wouldn't be able to complain about anything!

(Likewise, i hope there will be another chance to catch up next year )

Dave I had no problem getting it and a rear exhaust box in my boot, sometimes you just can't please some people let's hope this not the last brands hatch weekend it was good to meet you all again

We got back to Dulwich and I had a flash of inspiration to delay the SWMBO discussion: Chris was coming back to Bristol so chuck in the back of his car... except it doesn't fit widthways in a Sirocco like it does in an Elan.

I assume the half hour of rain Dave referred to was just the heaviest shower! (For a moment all that could be heard on the LEC stand was the clicking of hood catches!)

Great minds.... I said "Galvanised bumper retaining bracket as well as the wishbones - must be an S2."

Maybe that's why S2's are (alleged) to be slower ? A lump of 4 x 4 must be heavier than fibreglass. I had noticed the galvanized steel bracket too. Or is it passivated zinc /??

I invested £15 in a LotusBits ride just before we left on Sunday and Ian captured it all on his phone. Great fun, felt much faster and looser inside than it looks from outside.

They may look a bit like Lotus Sunbeams, but they're actually Excel chassis with a totally custom spec and just a few Sunbeam panels nailed on the outside to make them look right. They do go well though - at least mine did in the hands of pilot Mike Taylor.
