Standard Full system (stainless centre)

Postby steble » Thu 01.09.2016, 09:52

Hi All,

I have a full standard exhaust system available, I was going to keep it as a spare. However; realistically I am never going to go back to standard now I have felt the improvment of an aftermarket exhaust. The other thing was put it back on when I sell the car, again never going to happen. So its pointless me keeping it, it's just getting in the way.

So it is a full sytem from the 3 bolt triangle downpipe flange back. Appears in good condition and it has a stainless centre section (put on by previous owner).

As for how much, I'm not really sure how much it is worth. i've had a look around ebay to see how much breakers are selling bits of exhaust.

Offers please as I have no idea what it is worth

Pic to follow when I remember

Adding those prices and taking a bit off i'm going to start at £200ono and go down (or up) from there.

Please point out if i'm woefully overpriced! (as i say just basing it on used component prices on ebay)

I'll put my head above the parapet and say 'No chance'... Your statement says it all (not really a very good sales spiel for the standard system is it? )

Front section usually runs hot enough that it doesn't corrode much and back box is the only real 'consumable' item. Anybody who needs a complete system is very probably going to take the opportunity to 'feel the improvement of an aftermarket exhaust'.

'alan e' recently gave a back box away forum.lotuselancentral.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=25544#p323077

and apollo has a stainless back box for £60 on ebay.

I fitted a Quicksilver to my Elan SE that's now on SORN to go with an Everest Chip in the ECU and still have the parts of a complete OE system.

Chipped ECU has now moved to current use SE and I thought about transferring the Quicksilver system - but not for long. Too much like hard work, just buy another aftermarket big bore...

When I do there'll be another OE system going spare ... Love to think I could get £200 for it but just can't see it happening... probably give it away to an enthusiastic owner trying to run the car on a shoestring.

:agree:
Just put it on eBay starting at 99p, no reserve. You'll get more for it there than on the forum where the improvements of the bigger bore are well known.

Bit of a Gerald Ratner moment there with your sales pitch. Should have added "if you want to restore that "choked" feeling to the performance of your Elan I have just the exhaust for you"

This is what I thought, as I say i just added all of the sale prices for the individual items on ebay. came to £240is and took some away. To be honest I just need it out the way, but seems a shame to take it to the tip. I couldn't actually give 2 s**** about how much I get for it, just that is gone.

I'll leave it as open to offers then and see if anyone wants it
