Paint Codes?

Postby zaria123 » Tue 06.09.2016, 09:52

Hi Folks

I am having to leave my car in for repainting the front bumper due to a few stone chips.

Only problem is my painter says he can't trace the pain code under Lotus.

My car is the Blue Metallic colour you can see in my photo, but is it perhaps a general motors colour, or has anyone any suggestions how to trace the mix?

Thanks
Alan

Paint Code is shown on the VIN label under the bonnet - at the front near the bonnet catch.

Early Pacific Blue cars were Code A68 and used ICI paint - ICI reference P4217750

Later models were Code B08 and used Dupont paint - Dupont reference ABN9144

Some early cars may have been resprayed using the Dupont paint because of availability.

Hope that helps.. (Mine is B08)

Leave me alone, I think I know what I'm doing.

Not all VIN stickers have the paint code and/or interior trim designations - but even if they do, it is 'only' the Lotus short code.....

..... not every paint factor has the information to trace all the numbers (I could get Calypso red and Pacific blue locally, from the Lotus numbers, but the Empire Green code wasn't in their book).....

....however, they should be able to cross-reference the full ICI or DuPont codes as listed by Phil
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Thanks brilliant! Thanks so much, I'll get that over to my painter now, and that'll speed things along :)
