Sometimes you have slightly more years qualifying than you think. I thought I had 26 maybe 27 years paid in by the time I was 44, when I checked they told me I had 29 years contributions paid. As I only started working at about 17 I couldn't work out how I got 29 years in, I was told I got gifted 3 years as soon as I started working.
Although people might not get the full SP as its increased to 35 years contributions it has also gone up from 115 to 155 pounds per week.
So where as I would have been entitled to 29/30ths of 115 pounds, I'm now entitled to 29/35ths of 155 - I think ? So I'll actually get slightly more money I believe.
