Hoods (no longer) available from Trim Technology

Postby Rob P » Fri 20.01.2017, 10:48

Having been searching for posts on replacing the webbing inside the hood I came across a number of post mentioning Trim Technology and as such contacted them about sourcing replacement webbing, Dean Holt responded to my mail and I am now awaiting delivery of a new set of webbing to resolve my current issue.

However, and hence the posting, whilst chatting to him on email he mentioned that they have in their possession 4 brand new Lotus Canopy S2 kits with 5 seals boxed and ready to be shipped. Dean has tried to connect to the LEC forum using his old link but that doesn't seem to be working any more so I agreed to stick this information up for him in case anyone was in need of a new hood or wanted to change out their SE hood for the S2 version. I did consider it but as my hood is still in pretty good condition I thought the funds would be best directed to a couple of other jobs I have in mind.

I have no association/affiliation with Trim Technology and this is the first time I have used them whilst purchasing the new webbing but having researched a lot on this subject I did come across a number of posts making reference to them and it all seemed positive hence I was happy to post this info.

If you are interested then it is best to contact Dean Holt directly via the following methods

MMFax: 02476 64 6001

Hope I haven't broken any forum rules posting this but thought it might be useful for people

No indication of costs were mentioned, but then I wasn't after one so never thought to ask, as an earlier post states Dean has been great to deal with so give him a nudge :poke:

Dealt with Dean way back in 2006 and at that time Trim Technology did me a full replacement hood with new seals fitted for £1200. Would be interested to hear how that has moved on in the intervening decade or so. They did a great job for me (albeit was done by a guy who was about to retire - so he'd be long gone now). Sadly despite all of the effort and attention to detail and obvious experience and skill, not to mention expense, I still need to carry thigh/shoulder towels for drives in any serious rain. There is no silver bullet!

Thanks to Rob for the posting........

I've made contact with Dean and have ordered a set- they are £635 + VAT and shipping.
I'm not in a hurry to have fitted but can anyone recommend a good installer?

Thanks

There might not be a silver bullet but there is a rubber bullet :D

I managed to get one of Jamie N's early development combined header & A-pillar rubber seals which makes a great difference. It is effectively a modern day version that fits to the top of the windscreen very similar to what was fitted as standard to my previous S2000, which the roof then clamps down onto. With the old sponge seal fitted to the edge of the roof any moisture that got past the seal would then gather in the channel at the top of the windscreen and then makes its way along to the exact point where it would drip with laser precision on to my right knee!

Jamies header seal directs any water to the outside of the car, a novel approach for a convertible some might say but at least you dont look incontinent* when you arrive at your destination.

*Disclaimer: If you do indeed suffer from incontinence the use of this seal does not constitute a solution!

When you say ordered a set - what are you getting with it ? A complete set of seals including header seal ?

I've assumed from Dean's message that it is all seals except deck seal, but I have asked him to confirm.

Dean has confirmed the following

Note we only have headers seals moving forward as the last 4 kits on site are the last of the new falling pillar and Intermediate seals left from our original purchase.

I've been trying to get hold of anyone from Trim Technology for a while. All phone numbers I have for them have stopped working,
I believe that they have stopped trading.

I really need to speak to anyone that is / was involved with this company urgently.

If anyone has any contact info for any former employees, please let me know.

My request for info is not for my benefit. I want to be able to help them out in any future court case that Mark at M100 hoods is going to be trying to sue them for.
I've recently received some very nasty emails from M100Hoods and I want to make sure that Trim Technology is aware of all of the information, and my offer to help them out.

If anyone can help, please let me know via email or PM. I don't want to drag anyone else into this sh*t fight.

At the moment, I don't think he is taking me to court.... But not really sure.

I'll never trade with him again.

I don't think I've ever spoken to such a nasty person in my entire life.

God help anyone that deals with him.

Unfortunately, Trim Technology in Coventry has folded. They closed their doors and were liquidated on Sept 15, 2017

See this link for more details: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/2867240
