Rear Brake Discs/Hubs

Postby par » Mon 27.02.2017, 21:30

I have a pair of rear brake discs/hubs available which have been removed from my Elan as I have fitted new units as part of my refurbishment.

These are used but appear to have very little wear as I have shown a photo of the measurement of one of the brand new discs which I have replaced these with and there is next to no difference in the thickness of the discs. There is however some pitting on the inside face of both discs, these discs have passed MOT's while fitted to my Elan but would recommended a skim to get a good flat surface over all the braking area (the pitted area sits proud of the flat disc surface).

Inner and outer bearings will be included and while I have no issues to report on the condition of these while fitted to my car, the re-use of these is at the discretion of the buyer.

Price for both discs is £40 not including postage & packing.
Delivery can be arranged at cost.

Hi Stephen, I am interested in these discs to get my Elan back on the road - currently off the road due to the recent issues with the Jeemy hubs. I am based in Edinburgh and can arrange to collect from you to avoid postage.

I seem to have missed any debate re probems with Jeemy rear hubs, can anyone direct me to the issue?

Phill,
thank you for directing me to the topic, very disconcerting. My hubs are from Jamie's 1st run and were bought as insurance for the future and not yet fitted. I will be looking carefully at them today, not only for loose fit but for any evidence of "glue". Since buying them one of my Elans has had the PNM rear brake upgrade. The discussion you pointed me to briefly mentioned another problem relating to the Jamie hubs and the PNM upgrade. Can you point me to any reading on that issue? Given past history I will in future be very wary of being an early adoptor of any group buy other than cosmetic upgrades.
Thanks, Paul

Phill,
once again thanks very much, you've been there done that and got the teeshirt. Simple solution and not something to fret about.

Yeah, got the T shirt but it's probably unique ....

I have Mtec1281 264mm x 10mm discs on rear hubs, to keep unsprung weight close as possible to original, and HiSpec Ultralite 2 calipers adapted to suit . Min disc thickness is 8mm but at £57 a pair I can afford to change them often.
