But it has buggered up my plan of taking a kindle to read on the plane - not for the outbound flight, but coming home it has to be in the hold baggage :(

I had a 1.05 stopover in Abu Dhabi a few years ago. We were 20 minutes late so just enough time to get off, walk down (or was it up) to the departure lounge then queue to get on the next plane just in time for last call.

Good question.
On the way out, we had a 3 hour stop. I only had hand luggage but my friend's baggage got lost & caught up with us the following day.
When we had the 45 minute stopover on the way back, our luggage arrived at Heathrow with us.
I think we may have even caught the same plane on both legs. I can't remember if we got back on at the same gate or not.

I guess they will (should) collect all the Bangkok baggage into 1 or more containers then just transfer the containers from 1 aircraft to the next.

We usually 'go native' with the food (Pho for lunch, and 'whatever they have in the kitchen' for evening) - but we did find a very nice Italian Restaurant in a town in the middle of nowhere lat year in Laos - so had Pizza for that one.....

To answer your question, Kampot *should* be Monday (just passing through).... so it may be any day next week depending on how it goes :D

Thats a shame as theres a good drive up some new tarmac road to Bokor National park area (they say national park/protected area but the Chinese have built a huge 5* Hotel and casino in the middle of it :x Good drive though :burnout:

Theres a large derelict hotel at the top too thats still got bullet holes in the walls from when Pol Pot was running riot, it was really spooking walking around it. It was being rebuilt but I don't know what happened to it. Also a couple of empty churches....

I hired a scooter from the hotel for a day to do it. They presented me with this black scooter with pink fairings and pink wing mirrors, it was covered in 'Hello Kitty' stickers. I refused the pink crash helmet that went with it..............
