Although the track itself opens at nine, the circuit is open much earlier. I usually arrive about 8ish which gets me towards the front of the queue to sign on, I get the car noise checked and then go to the briefing. Once that admin is done and wristbands sorted then either an early track session and breakfast....or breakfast before the first track session. Last to arrive is usually Geoff around lunchtime!

I've seen in the latest CL mag that the usual parking spot along the start finish fence is being reserved for the 60th Anniversary Type 14 Elites and the 50th Anniversary Elan +2s so I guess we'll have to nab another spot on the infield somewhere.

Yes there's a proper café building (The Tavern) in the middle of the Paddock and they do various fry ups which are nice enough and where I typically go. If you prefer to eat your food while standing there will probably also be a van by the Strawford Centre selling bacon butties or sausage rolls before stepping up to beefburgers and cheeseburgers for lunch. Neither is sophisticated (!) and they're not really that cheap either but it hits the spot and they're better value than the motorway services. IMO the Tavern is better than the van - and if Pinky forgets the BBQ they also do a better choice for lunch.

Club Lotus say use the Competitor's Entrance into the Paddock and that gate will open at 7.00 a.m. Signing In starts at 8.00 a.m.

Think I'm now reverting to Plan A and will head for Burtonhill for Friday night. I don't eat breakfast but a decent meal Friday evening will see me through most of Saturday and the menu at The Smoking Dog looks good, there's plenty to choose from.

In Suffolk sunrise was at 5 a.m. this morning so I expect it will be close to that in Malmesbury in 2 weeks. Dawn chorus and the way light comes through my tent means I'll likely be up and away before the convoy gets going ..
and probably end up sitting in the queue waiting for the gates to open...

I shall be aiming to get to the circuit Friday afternoon, to enable me to liaise with both circuit staff and anyone from CL (if they are there).

Having already noted the bit that Mike mentions about the reserved parking area along the grass bank, I hope to be able to grab a suitable bit of land to accomodate the numbers that have indicated a desire to attend. I will have the 'official LEC HQ' with me, consisting of the banner, ez-e-up gazebo and gas stove for brews. Rest assured, that i shall do my very best to grab a decent site, but don't yet know where it will be. As we usually have more people than mugs, could I please request that enyone who wants a cuppa please bring a cup! (There will be some available, but it will save risking ebola from sharing). I'll have tea, coffee, milk and sugar. Likewise, for food - as I don't know who wants what, I shall provide the facilities, but please bring your own grub (facilities will include basic condiments, napkins etc)

I shall then pitch camp wherever they let me and await the arrival of the tall ginger bloke (plus family), and anyone else who is camping/caravanning/campervanning at CC.

It is far too early to sort out finer details yet, but I shall have some facilities for cooking (well, Kim has a cooker in their caravan!), a BBQ etc etc - so plans are fluid.

Should a few people decide that they wish to avail themselves of a traditional LEC 'Friday night curry', then I 'm fairly sure that I could fit it into my schedule

I appreciate that you are still elan-less at this stage, but (obviously) you are still welcome for either the day or the weekend - if you want to come here, i can sort you out transport to, and accommodation at, the circuit. (that way I can get both the elan and the VW to the site so I can sleep in comfort )

Are you doing the official LEC badges Dave (like we had at Donington all those years ago) ? I only know about half the names on the list

Set out on the 21st. MoT booked for the 24th. It hasn't moved since Brands so stand by for frantic calls for help to make sure I get to CC.
