Talking of seals..The holy grail...

Postby Jamie N » Mon 22.05.2017, 22:03

Well this one has challenged me to the max, but not being one who gives in without a serious fight I kept at it... and at it,, and at it, and eventually I won the Falling pillar seal battle!, maybe acquiring B post stress disorder into the bargain :D , but I got it sussed.

As is often the case.. the final method of construction turned out to be fairly simple, the hardest part throughout was getting the top part to match the profile of the EPDM Intermediates, close was never good enough they have to be exact. Apart from waterproofing my main criteria was to make the whole hood / windows area as neat and tidy as possible and completely rid it of the garbage they threw on it at Hethel. :P

Looks nice Jamie.
Quite timely for me if you are offering the solution as I am swapping the hood soon an would prefer to fit something new rather than swap what seals I have...

Great work as usual Jamie

Having seen some of the earlier versions which you had in development, which looked like a major improvement over the standard seals to me but you were not completely satisfied with, I know these will be first class parts!

You have absolutely no excuse for only driving 190 miles in your Elan this year as even the heaviest downpour shouldnt stop you now!

I think that's a early version superseded by many versions since :)

The seals look great, and I couldn't help but admire your seats. Can you please tell me where you acquired the seals and the seats?
If the Elan was so "over-engineered", why are these forums necessary?

They are either Mazda RX8 seats or Honda S2000 seats, think RX8 seats.

Do a search on here for modified seats and there's a good thread or two about fitting them.

Ok - found the thread -
