Door Lock Module - anyone

Dear All,

On my S2, when I was opening the driver side door (left for mine) the light was not coming on.. Passanger side was fine..

I took all apart and I have found out that the module is split into two parts.. Hence the switch was not touching the latch part and could not sense that the door is opened. (The door functions fine without the top part, locking/unlocking opening.. I tested the module and it shall work fine..

Do you think if that one is broken? Or I need to screw two of them together? How do they stay together? (I could not take the latch out so I could not examine..)

Do you have any experience with this?

its was common place for the module to be modified to suit a different alarm
I found the same when I took my door apart........
I simply reconnected with a new tie rod......

I had the same, which I repaired, I wish I'd taken photos
It's a bit of a pain, but I would take out the actual lock too, you'll find it so much easier to work on

I had broken mounting lug which I glued and I made a bracket to strengthen it, Really it would have been best to replace the part but I wanted to get my door back together

If you look at the bottom your 3 pictures, there is a screw on the right, just below the white plate, remove that, I'm sure that it will be holding on a small piece of plastic that has broken off the lock. I can't remember if there was a second broken piece on mine (maybe the other screw too?)


When I had my other door apart, I found that the same part wasn't working (faulty internals), I ordered a replacement from the following, which fitted perfectly

Just be careful with "Driver" and "Passenger" sides, IIRC this refers to LHD cars

Edit. Thinking about it more. The broken lugs will be from the lock part, not sure if they are available

"Getting the door back together" I know exactly what you mean. I had to take the part out and then put the glass back in.. Now its a pain to remove all the glass and the slider channels.. Luckily I havent riveted the seal holder into place..

Any tips on how to remove the rods from the lock? It looks like they are being hold into place using some plastic pivot clips, which I am afraid that might break off ?

It really took me a lot of wiggle and play to even take the actuator out,although I have quite small hands and flexible joints..
.. I cannot understand how you managed to put them back together and tie in such a small space?

I just used a large flat bladed screwdriver to pop the linkages off
If you loosen the rear door glass runner screws, enough for it to move around, this does help with access

Spot on.. the same thing.. i put some epoxy and put two parts together..
Now it should work as it should..
