Jim Clark 50th Anniversary, 7-8 April 2018

My local brewery, Borders Brewing, have just released a brew in commemoration of Jim Clark's untimely death 50 years ago. It is called Racing Green, it's 3.8% ABV and very drinkable. I've just had 3 pints of it

Just looked up a picture - nice blue; slightly more purplish than Pacific blue - nearer to Azure. I should be able to find you.

Mine’s the usual Pacific Blue BFG and Mark will be in whatever colour goes with his outfit of the day.

I think "All Black" might be my theme for the w/e. However, I haven't worn my mustard corduroys and yellow fleece for a while

Maggie made me throw out my mustard cords years ago, along with my green velvet flares, brown stripe platform shoes and Crimplene safari jacket. They’ll all come back into fashion, mark my words.

About 0730ish Nae Esprits or Elise's though. Just an M100 convoy

Dishoom is good, albeit expensive. They have a fixed 10% tip added into the final bill which I hate. Service is good and attentive though. And food is good. I went in for Indian breakfast Including Singh's beer

OK that's maybe a tad early for me to be getting to you, but how's about I meet you guys enroute instead - say at Lauder or Earlston (depending on which route you're taking) around 8am? I'll be in the Medina green machine...

You’re right that a diversion through Innerliethen doesn’t make sense from Edinburgh. It would be great to get in a convoy with you. I leave it to Mark to suggest a meeting point if possible (as he knows the routes) on the understanding that if you’re not there, we’re not waiting as there is a 70 car limit to the parking in front of the Jim Clark museum.

Maggie and I are up for a curry (or whatever other cullinary delights The Capital has to offer). We have been used to eating near where our kids student flats are, so the high life of St Andrews Square would be a definite step up.

Alan, I'll be coming along M8 and ring road probably. We could have a mid engined convoy from Embra, after all Jim Clarks race cars were mid engined monocoques.

It's been blowing a right hooly all day here. Blizzard conditions and lots of snow and salt on the roads The Black Beastie will be staying tucked up in the garage so its Custard Mustard for the JC event. Might have to take it a bit easy on the cross country back roads

Valid point Scott but I fancy giving the Elan a run out this time out. Going to book the Esprit in for Thirlstane in June however.

I was told Atlantic Blue, but now I'm not so sure. Marks car became Rambo and my punk mates call my car BuzzCock due to number .

Pretty sure BuzzCock is Atlantic blue Scott, I got a custom paint shop to make up a touch up for it in Atlantic
and the match looked spot on to me and the guys at the shop, unless there are 2 different blues that are very very close?.

Funny that... my Heavy Rock mates and Neighbours call my car "noisy bastard" due to the speaker emanations .

Jamie, you are correct, B97 on the VIN is Atlantic blue. Just to confuse matters Lotus have two other paint codes, B73 is also Atlantic Blue and B78 is AtlantiS Blue. Never make it easy do they .
