Paint colour for grey plastic parts

Morning all, I’ve a couple of places in the cockpit where the paint has worn off the plastic trim pieces - noticeably the top of the steering column cowl, which is a bit unsightly. Does anyone know what shade of paint was originally used for these parts (and yes, I realise it may have faded in the interim ), and where I can get an aerosol today?

Alternatively, has anyone tried to match it with a touch-up aerosol?

One option for getting a match on things with no known paint code is to take the part (if it's not too big) into Halfords
and just go along all the rows of paint checking against the coloured caps.

What about autoglym bumper and trim gel ? that's stuffs magic on rubber

Mom, I thought about that, Jamie, but a) I don’t have a Halfords within reasonable range and b) I’ve had expernces in the ast where the cap colour doesn’t match the paint colour. May have to go that way though.

Whatever you do, don’t ask Halfords to mix up a matching paint for you. I think they give the mixing job to the colour-blind trainee. I still have a pot of specially-mixed paint which bears no resemblance to Pacific Blue. If you have a proper paint shop nearby, that’s a different matter - maybe take the part in and get them to match it?

When I needed to match some paint recently I picked up some Dulux colour charts (that they use for the in-shop paint mixing).

Once I'd found the closest match I looked this up here to get the RAL code.

And then using the RAL code I was able to order some mixed cellulose from eBay!

For my Pacific Blue '93 SE (made June '92) the Colour is "Pacific Blue (B08)" and the Colour Code is "DuPont ABN9144"

Thanks everybody. I followed up Wayne’s suggestion, and eventually tracked some down . . . on Amazon UK The price was reasonable, but postage was extortionate, so I bought three cans to help justify the purchase

Yes. And I have tried it. And it matches perfectly. And I will be at CC also . . . . .

On the side issue, Rambo is right; RAL codes are the way to go . . . . Provided you know the RAL code you’re trying to match
