Yes caught some trout then swam home on the motorway through the thunderstorms, not many Lotuses used for fishing trips but with no leaks in a downpour at 70 , maybe it will catch on :D

Followed Collapso E7LAN up from Chard through Horton today and it was a lovely thing to see an M100 on the road, roof down, and looking so clean and shiney!

Silver H reg driving through Knowle, Solihull at 1:30pm today, top down.

I was in the daily, driving the other way; I smiled and tried to say something to you just as you pulled away - think you might have thought I was slightly mad (so that would be mostly correct :D )

Nice MGC in front, if so
And I also approve of the Dolomite Sprint to its right

Yes it is!!

And my yellow Mini next to the Elan too!

There were quite a few Dolly sprints there, and at least one more MGC.

Not many Lotus though, 2 x m100 and an Excel. There may have been a Sunbeam Lotus, but that could've been at Bath the following day!

Lot of Dolly Sprints coming out of the woodwork lately. Makes you wonder how many are original matching numbers cars, and how many have been “created” by a man in a shed.

My 2 are both 'matching numbers' cars.... except for any Dolomite made before 1977 the chassis number was purely on the plate under the bonet, and not stamped into the bodywork....... so the plates match the engine and V5, but can't be proven to belong to the chassis. On a later body, the number is stamped into the rain chanel round the boot, where most cars have rusted out and been plated, so again, hard to prove.

The vermillion red (orange) one in the picture would come under the 'made by a man in a shed' category (the bodyshell was an 1850 HL - but the same as the Sprint - the square headlights used on the later 1300/1500 had a different inner front vallence arrangement).... when I first got that car it had a 2.5PI engine fitted, but was replaced with Sprint running gear and sold to Martin who did a total 'restoration' to make it a Sprint (he has done about 30-40 sprints and knows what he is doing!) - personally, I'm not keen on the wheels or the Group 2 wheelarches on a road car, but each to his own.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

Surely the original Dolly didn't have flared wheel arches ? Dave ?

Edited.. Just read your post above Dave and it has answered my question . I don't like them either :?
