wheelArch liner bolts and screws set, help needed

id like to raise a small discussion in order to find out exactly what do i need to buy in order to recreate this.
Presently i already have at least half of the stuff mentioned in the list.
HOWEVER.

4 x rubber rawl plugs im thinking using rivNuts instead. ? only downside i can think of is possibly rusting? any thoughts ? My prior experience with well nuts tells me to stay away from them, as they tend to spin in place very easily
4 x M6 Lug Nuts my understanding is "lug nut" being a wheel holding nut. so this doesnt make any sence to me. from the picture, i suspect these are suposed to be spire nuts maybe ? and im not sure where do they fit. ?front near the bumper?
8 x M6 Dome nuts from the picture. i think these are suposed to be bolts and not nuts. likely this as a replacement
8 x Penny Washers assuming M6 because the other bolts are all M6

im assuming the 3 selt tappers with plugs fit in the rear of the wheelarch from underneath maybe ? its likely to all make sence tomorow when i look at the car from underneath. so, effectively. the only real opinion i would like would be on the fitting of the spire nuts and if using rivNuts is likely to have some unforseen downside ?

currently the wheel arches have ZERO nuts holding them. so anything is an improvement anyway..

Rivnuts are meant to fit to metal. If you don't damage the GRP when setting them, I would imagine that the lack of give would soon cause a problem. Rawlnuts can be a PITA but I think that's why epoxy adhesive was supplied by BFG.

Correct - spire nuts.

Correct - button headed screws are good.

Correct - M6 penny washers.

I have just bought loads of s/s bolts/nuts/washers from ebay from a supplier called kayfast1.

Can thoroughly recommend them: excellent service, good pricing and quick delivery.

I would also suggest not using the riv-nuts. You can get aluminium ones, but whilst they are great for metal applications, the bit that folds over is probably too hard and narrow for fibreglass: you may split the fibreglass when pulling the rivet closed. To locate a rawl-nut use superglue instead of epoxy. It dries more quickly and holds well enough for this light load use on our cars.

Kayfast is excellent - but if buying in bulk, then another ebay seller worth a look is massiveattack007........ both companies offer quick convenient delivery, but as prices tend to be for smaller quantities with "free" postage, it is often worth sending a note to ask for a combined total.... otherwise you could be paying for postage costs on 10 small jiffy bags, when they will send 1 small parcel.

originally in the door cards i tried to use rawl nuts. they spun. so i decided to try and use contact glue, epoxy and super glue in 3 of them to test if any of the solutions worked. all of them ended up spinning as well. thats the reason i ended up using rivNuts, which have not given me any trouble in the 2 years since.

installing the rivnuts is a skill on its own tho, i found theres some compression in the door's fibreglass but if you try to make it too tight the fibreglass cracks losing integrity. not enough pressure and the effectiveness is the same as rawl nuts.

I have recently had some very pleasant results using evi-stik high strengh athesive in the weatherstrips im going to try that in the rawl nuts for the wheel arches and see how it goes.

any idea what is number 17 suposed to be ?

as far as "where" to get the fasteners. i already have plenty of pretty much everything needed. with MAYBE exception of the plastic plugs, which i have some bought specifically for my celica wheel arches, and i need to check if the size is the same in the elan.

Ihave recently been doing retail therapy at toostation for stainless steel fasteners. and have plenty of assorted stainless steel bolt sets from ebay as well.
i found out that for many stainless steel bits toolstation was cheaper or pretty close to same costs as sourcing the same part off ebay in the UK (not interested in waiting a month for the delivery)

17 looks to me to be the rubber compressible packer sleeve of the Rawlnut.

I find that EvoStic Serious glue works pretty well for most small jobs.

if you need everything, i suggest contacting geoffsmith. there's a good chance he still have one or 2 packs spare.

if you search the forum for the group buy that he started, together with the clarifications in here you shoudl be able to get evrything.
as far as "where" to buy. a mixture of ebay orders and toolstation worked for me. but thats because i was completing the set based on bits that i already had from previous endeavours. if i didnt have 100's of ££'s already invested in a range of different fittings i would save mysef the bother and just ask geoff if he has another spare.
