Lotus Festival 2018 (date now announced 29 Sept at Hethel)

Is the Lotus Festival happening this year? I've been and enjoyed it the last couple of years but can't find any info for this year.
It seemed to be well supported and a good day out, hope it hasn't come to an end?

As I type on Sunday evening, its not on this year. But Bibs put out a comment on TLF a week ago to say he hoped to announce some good news on it by the end of the week (last week). No news has yet been forthcoming despite a couple of prompts. So all we know is work is being done to try to make something happen - we just don't know if its going to come to fruition or not. Announcement must be imminent either way.

Dave: I've booked into Mangreen Country House. £146 for 2 nights incl breakfast. Since I did it, it looks as if bibs is trying to get some deals going with some local hotels. BUT I can send you a link via booking . com to get £15 off that at Mangreen and elsewhere too: (offer open to all )

Also if you want to leave Thursday (and really please Angela!) you are welcome to stage at mine on Thursday night.

Entry to factory in a Lotus only will be by ticket. Non Lotus are park and ride. Details to follow from bibs in due course.

Trying to keep up on TLF at the moment is madness (following the anouncement of the event).

I have noted Bibs' messages and will wait to see what pans out over the next few hours/days before booking anything for myself.

Angie will need to see if she can get time off work (probable) and then sort dog accommodation (unlikely!) before she can commit one way or the other - but she does like Dunston hall Hotel.....

At this stage, it is probably just best to keep a 'watching brief' and react as and when we get an 'official' club invite from Bibs....... obviously, those members on here who are also on TLF can see it all happening in real time.

I agree that the temperature usually drops rapidly in mid September & the end of the month is too cold to sleep in a tent.

Nick:- I would be disappointed if you didn't bring Belle, but that would give me a good excuse to get up north to see you (& meet with a mutual friend who lives a few miles to the west of you but neither of us have seen lately ).

I plan to be there. B&B Fri Sat & poss Sunday to make a long w/e, its 800 mile round trip from Glasgow. Maybe a Travelodge Premier Inn type place near Norwich, with a steak house attached as we have done at Donny in the past . it's coming home it's coming home, my Elise is coming home .

Bibs is negotiating a deal with Dunston Hall (he has block booked 40 rooms at the moment). Prices to be announced as and when..... it is likely that those 40 rooms will be over-subscribed (from reading the thread on TLF), so if anyone is interested, I would advise keeping an eye on TLF!

The plan being that there will be a get-together in the evening (don't know if he means Friday or Saturday yet) with some 'special guests' for a beer and a chat - it will be open for anyone who isn't staying at the hotel, so don't feel that paying a high price for a lovely room (with swimming pool on site!) is the only way to be sociable.

Oh, and a convoy to the factory as well.....

Just to emphasize - this is a Lotus Factory event, with TLF doing the legwork - I am just trying to keep you informed as to what is happening, pending an 'official' invite from Bibs - which will arrive in due course.

It looks good on the internet - most importantly, it's well located for what we need (walkable to Dunston Hall if required) - and better than Dunstons 'best' prices.....

..... that said, if Bibs comes in with a 'can't be beaten' price, I have the option to cancel up to a couple of days before arrival - what's not to like????

Often it is worth contacting the hotel directly. I managed to get booked through https://www.qhotelsdirect.co.uk . That doesn’t mean I’m definitely coming (Archie), as I booked the cancellable option (so if Bibs’s golden tongue secures a better deal I can take it ).

For those looking at the Mangreen, I also found rooms available on https://www.hotelscombined.com, so it might be worth giving them a ring before presuming that they’re sold out. I chose Dunston Hall as it’s a known option.

If you go to the hotel site and try to book it moves you onto booking.com web site and they say its full maybe a phone call to the hotel to check.

Bibs on TLF has block booked all remaining rooms at Dunston, so you won't be able to book one without going through him.
I have a £15 discount code for booking.com if any one wants the link for any hotel in the area.
